Admission Approved

Few weeks passed by in a jiffy, Emmanuel's day to day life continued as normal. Everyday, he would go to work in the morning, and return home at night. He kept on with his life while he was still waiting for an admission for a long while, but then for the recent few days, he had not checked the admission forum again as he was tired of the continuous disappointment and was already starting to lose hope. He could only clench his fist while he watched his father go through all the stress he was going through. It wasn't easy on him either as work had become more and more stressful of recent. He had stopped going there by 8:00. Instead he went by 7:00 which was an entire hour earlier than the time he had to be there.

The reason he was doing this was that it enabled him to be receiving bigger tips from his madam than he was receiving before. He felt that, at least saving those tips while spending only very little out of it, would be quite the little help to him once it grew into a reasonable sum.

Emmanuel was seated on a plastic chair, with a plastic table placed at his front under a large umbrella which was placed there to shade him from the sun, something it was obviously doing a very bad job at. Emmanuel was currently sweating seriously as the sun shone right through the umbrella and was currently scorching his fair face.

He scrolled and scrolled and scrolled as he watched the short videos, and then he stopped. He rose his head up to stair at the umbrella and then dropped it down. Though he did that, he wasn't actually staring at the umbrella. He entered a train of thought. ' Should I check it or not ' he thought. He was referring to his admission status. He didn't know whether he was ready for another disappointment. But then as he had not checked it for a few days due to the constant disappointment, ' Maybe it might have changed ' He thought. What he meant by maybe it might have changed was that, maybe it might have switched from pending to approved. There were two ways it could go if it switched, either approve or decline. He very much wanted it to switch to approve, but then even if it did not, a part of him wished it should then switched to decline quickly.

His reason for thinking like this was that, if it were to switch to admission decline, then his father could finally stop stressing himself as nothing he did would work. Once it switched to decline, no amount of money you pay can sort it out as it meant it had already being imprinted in the countries data, and any form of corruption would be noticed by the highest of authorities.

After finally deciding to check it out, he exited from the app he was currently using and clicked on the google app icon. He then inputted the link needed to visit the admission website. As soon as he got into the website, they asked him for his details which he then inputted, and then the website showed a loading sign.

Soon he was logged into his portal. He clicked on the setting sign at the top right side of his portal. Several options popped out, and then he clicked on the point showing * Admission Status *. And then a screen showing another loading sign popped up. He waited patiently for it to load and in no time it did.

Immediately his eyes set on what was shown," Ah.... " he almost shouted but stopped himself while reminding himself that he was outside. He even almost threw his phone on the ground. He was beyond shocked, it had happened. His prayers had actually being answered by God.

At this point, if not for not wanting to be seen as a mad man, Emmanuel would have stood up and started dancing, displaying his moves and dance steps.

Right on the screen, the words * Approved * was currently pasted right beside the words * Admission status *. He had been awarded the long awaited admission.

What he felt now was beyond happiness. It was like the transcendent stage of joy. For the rest of the day, he kept celebrating in his mind while giving out lovely smiles to anyone his gaze came across. A lot of people noticed it, both his customers and his market neighbours. They asked him what happened at which he just shook his head and said " Nothing ". Though they were told that, a lot of them knew he was just afraid of the term * Market People *. This term was a story for another day.

Soon his closing hour reached and he packed up all his things and then went to do his balancing. After which he and Rebecca where giving tips by Mrs Amarachi, and then they went home. On his way home, he let the cat out of the bag, telling Rebecca about his admission. She happily celebrated him and even paid for his ice cream for that day.

On getting home, his dad surprisingly came back early and he met them celebrating. It turned out his dad had already logged in to the site and had seen it. He then happily joined them. He also found at something that night. His dad hadn't actually completely giving up on him passing by himself and had actually been checking it everyday, he felt perplexed.
