Seon-woo's eyes fluttered open, his hand moving to cover them against the harsh light. After a moment, he tried to push himself up. A blue window appeared in front of him. He attempted to dismiss it but it wasn't moving.
[Welcome, Child of XXXXXX. I am Celestial Nexxus. I will assist you in controlling and refining your powers, unlocking unique abilities, and displaying real-time data. You can access this through mental commands.]
[Status Window ^ System Alerts ^ Quests ^ Skills ^ Shop ^ Void]
Seon carefully assessed the window. He'd seen something similar on the teacher's console before, it was of the physical learners stats so he knew a little about hox it functions. However the system the teacher used was not Celestial Nexus It was the child of the Uranus. He gave a mental command for the status window.

Seon looked over his stats and the rest of the items next to the status window. The Shop was closed, the Skills section empty. The System Alerts were divided into two: one with information he had been receiving since waking up, and the other locked. The Void was apparently a space that housed objects, no matter the size like an inventory of some kind. Seon remembered something similar: the headmaster had a bag that worked like that, but it cost 15 million won. He tested it out by placing his blanket inside. That was enough proof for him to take the entire situation seriously.
The door opened, and Jin walked in.
"Oh man... you scared me with that," Jin said, sitting on the chair next to Seon's bed.
He had blood on his uniform. Seon knew it was his without much thought. It would make sense that he was bleeding, considering his health was below 50.
"Sorry for the scare," Seon apologized, lifting himself off the bed.
"You better be. You had blood coming out everywhere. It was horrific. What's worse is that the nurse swore she couldn't feel your pulse for like an hour. Let's go eat something; I've been waiting for ages," Jin said, helping Seon up.
Seon's stomach growled at the thought of food. He had never really been hungry, which made it easier to save money by eating just once a day. But right now, he felt like he would die from the hunger that suddenly possessed him. He let Jin lead the way.
The school was completely empty. Seon wondered what Jin had been doing while he was out. Their parents had been teammates, together when the Capitol fell. They had been friends ever since, though Seon had never really seen Jin as a friend—more like another tragic soul.
Jin opened the door and threw both their bags on the ground before placing Seon on the couch. He hurried off to start making something. Seon felt his mouth water at the aroma, and his stomach clenched. He'd never felt this sensation before.
[To keep the user healthy, the system will enhance their appetite, pain tolerance, and accelerate growth in preparation for using their abilities.]
Seon knew his body was too weak to do anything but even then that felt like an insult. Jin returned with two bowls of ramen. Seon found himself eating the ramen before he even sat down. By the time he finished, he was still hungry, and the bowl was still hot.
[System Alert: Ding! Health has increased to 50%. System suggests you get some rest.]
"Wh... are you alright, buddy? The ramen's still piping hot," Jin asked, looking at Seon with a worried expression.
"Just a bit hungry, that's all... and a bit tired," Seon answered honestly. If the system suggested sleep, then he needed sleep.
Jin nodded in reply, then went to the kitchen to bring back another bowl of ramen. He sat next to Seon and started eating with him. After the second bowl, Seon finally felt full. Jin took his bowl and came back a few minutes later.
"Let's do the homework, then go to bed. You can sleep here, alright?" Jin asked.
Seon took out his book and set it on the couch. Jin followed soon after.
"Jupiter is linked, right? But Saturn sounds so cool, though. Right? Plus, my dad was under it," Jin stated, reading a form he was filling out.
Seon picked up the same form and started filling it out. He also wanted to go to Pluto—they were the furthest from the government's control and focused more on training candidates to defeat monsters.
Soon after, they packed up and went to sleep.
Seon woke up to an arm tightening around his neck. Jin was a nasty sleeper, but Seon didn't mind. For the first time since he was five, he woke up feeling like he actually got rest. He opened his status window.

Seon looked at the quest. He could barely run for five minutes, let alone five kilometers. But he didn't have a choice to reject it, considering the penalty. There was also the matter of money as a reward. 50 dollars was nearly his monthly allowance. He read through the quest one more time before getting dressed in one of Jin's tracksuits, folding it a bit to move comfortably. He had two hours before school started and an hour and a half before Jin woke up.
He left the house and began his run. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to complete. His feet hurt, his breath was weak, and his chest felt heavy.
[First task complete. Player awarded 50 solar credits (50 credits is worth 72,755.50 won.)]
Seon was taken aback by the notification. He wondered if it was real. He partially didn't trust it—maybe it was just a sick joke sent to him by the universe. He went back to Jin's house, took a shower, and looked at his allowance on his Crimson.
Crimsons were watches assigned to them by the government that alerted them about nearby monsters and also served as wallets. He had saved every penny he received from the government since he got here, which meant he should have 8,293,283 won.
[Balance: 8,372,105 won]
He was taken by surprise. Every single penny was in the account. He knew how much he saved by heart, and suddenly, he had 72,755.50 extra won in his account. That was all the proof he needed.
Seon put his watch down and went to get ready for school. He made breakfast and reviewed his notes along with the system alerts he'd received while Jin got ready. He felt a spark of hope. He was never one to let go of an opportunity.
Jin came into the living room with a towel around his waist. He walked over to Seon before grabbing his book.
"Oh, you have to go to school today? I mean, you fainted yesterday. Granted, you look way better today, but I still feel like you should take it easy," Jin said, flipping through his notes.
"I'm okay, and we're late, so hurry up," Seon said, trying to reassure him.
