Xu Ming was utterly shocked.
The tenfold feedback of Yang Release was truly terrifying.
Chakra could be transformed into life force, replenishing the vitality of animals and even restoring their youth.
"Isn't this a bit too outrageous?"
Xu Ming was bewildered.
Ordinarily, spiritual and physical energy are refined into Chakra, and then non-attributed Chakra is transformed into Yang Release. This process results in energy loss.
However, his Yang Release was so incredibly potent that, despite this loss, it could still greatly restore vitality.
This meant that Xu Ming could sustain his own life force indefinitely.
In other words…
Immortality!
The shocking realization struck Xu Ming like a thunderbolt.
Taking a deep breath, he began calculating carefully.
After over ten minutes, he reached a conclusion that left him both stunned and amazed.
If he relied on Yang Release to replenish his own vitality, even with the energy loss from transformation, there was still a strong possibility that he could achieve immortality—or, at the very least, an extraordinarily long lifespan.
There was even a chance that he could live longer than the immortal beings of the Three Great Sage Lands.
"But why?"
"Why couldn't the Sage of Six Paths achieve this? Why couldn't Asura? Why not the First Hokage?"
Xu Ming was confused.
With the power and understanding of the Sage of Six Paths, he should have been able to live eternally.
Rinnegan was the key to life and death.
Asura, who inherited the Sage Body from the Sage of Six Paths, should have had an extended lifespan as well.
Even the First Hokage, whose Yang Release abilities were remarkable, didn't achieve immortality. However, perhaps his mastery of Yang Release wasn't as refined as Xu Ming's tenfold feedback. After all, his dominance over the ninja world came from Wood Release, which was derived from the power of the Divine Tree—not purely from Yang Release.
"Wait…"
A sudden realization struck Xu Ming, and his eyes lit up.
"My Yang Release can only replenish vitality—that is, it sustains the physical body. However, it doesn't enhance the strength of the soul."
"But the soul has a lifespan too!"
"I see…"
Xu Ming gazed at the soft green light glowing on his fingertips, his earlier excitement now tempered by understanding.
Yang Release could only prolong the body's life—it couldn't restore the soul's vitality.
If one wished to achieve true immortality, they would need to master Yin Release as well.
"The union of Yin and Yang… from which all things are born."
Xu Ming muttered the teachings of the Sage of Six Paths, exhaling deeply.
Senju Clan Territory.
A faint blue light shimmered over Orochimaru's hands, flickering like mist.
After barely ten seconds, the glow dissipated.
"Haah…"
Orochimaru wiped the sweat from his brow, looking exhausted.
"Not bad."
Standing beside him, Uzumaki Mito nodded approvingly. "You've reached the level of an average Senju clan member. You can now begin learning healing techniques."
"Thank you for your guidance," Orochimaru said respectfully, bowing.
"This was all due to your own efforts," Uzumaki Mito replied, waving her hand. Then, after a brief pause, she asked,
"Do you have any thoughts on how to develop the 'medical ninjutsu' that Xu Ming mentioned?"
At this, Orochimaru smiled wryly and shook his head.
"Absolutely none."
Medical ninjutsu was completely different from the offensive techniques he had studied before.
He had observed the Senju clan's healing jutsu, which involved flooding an injury with vast amounts of Yang Release Chakra to accelerate healing.
But this crude method hardly deserved the title of 'medical ninjutsu.'
"Then go ask that kid," Uzumaki Mito said with a chuckle.
"Since he could come up with the concept of medical ninjutsu, he must have a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Go dig out everything he knows, Orochimaru."
"That was my plan," Orochimaru admitted with a grin.
Nightfall.
The moonlight was cool and serene.
Xu Ming sat in his courtyard, inhaling the soothing aroma of the incense Mikoto had given him. The faint herbal scent lingered in the air.
"It's about time."
Xu Ming muttered to himself.
Orochimaru always sought him out whenever he made progress.
Earlier in the day, Xu Ming had received a system notification confirming that Orochimaru had mastered Yang Release and could now begin practicing healing techniques. That meant he would likely come looking for him tonight.
Sure enough, minutes later, familiar footsteps echoed outside the yard.
"Xu Ming."
Seeing the lights still on, Orochimaru didn't hesitate—he vaulted over the wall.
"Orochimaru, you're here about healing ninjutsu," Xu Ming said, smiling.
"Yes."
Orochimaru felt a chill run down his spine before he forced a calm expression.
Once again, Xu Ming had anticipated his actions perfectly.
How terrifying was this boy, who was the same age as him?
Every time Orochimaru felt like he was catching up, he realized there were still countless layers of mystery surrounding Xu Ming.
It was as though the boy was shrouded in endless mist.
Whenever Orochimaru advanced and thought he was seeing things more clearly, he would discover yet another layer of fog—an impenetrable barrier that prevented him from truly understanding Xu Ming's abilities.
For the first time, a strange thought crossed Orochimaru's mind.
Would he ever be able to fully grasp Xu Ming's true strength?
"What's the problem?" Xu Ming asked.
"How does healing ninjutsu become medical ninjutsu?" Orochimaru composed himself and asked seriously.
"It's simple. Medical ninjutsu revolves around two core principles."
Xu Ming raised two fingers and said,
"Emergency care."
"Emergency care?" Orochimaru repeated, deep in thought.
"Exactly," Xu Ming explained calmly. "Healing techniques in Yang Release work by stimulating cell activity, forcing rapid division, and accelerating wound recovery at the cost of shortening lifespan."
Orochimaru nodded solemnly.
That was the price of healing jutsu.
"But why should we have to sacrifice lifespan to heal wounds?" Xu Ming asked.
Then, without waiting for a response, he answered his own question.
"The reason is simple: because life-threatening injuries can't be healed instantly."
"For example, if a vital organ is damaged, an artery is severed, or severe blood loss occurs… the body doesn't have enough time to naturally recover. These types of injuries are fatal."
"So, in order to save a life, the body is forced to overdraw its lifespan."
Xu Ming paused for a moment before concluding,
"And that's where medical ninjutsu comes in—it prioritizes first aid."
