Chapter 70: Wei Sanpao is Back
In the kitchen, after Xu Qingnan finished washing the pots and pans, she walked out and saw her daughter playing with building blocks in the living room. However, she didn't see Li Yi or her younger sister, Xu Qingyao.
Just as she was about to call out for them, she heard voices coming from the bedroom and walked over.
"Brother-in-law, I still don't understand this question. Why should I use the past tense here?"
"Look at it this way. Although the statement suggests that the event is happening now, if you analyze the evidence carefully, you'll see that everything points to a past occurrence. That's why you should use the past tense."
Standing outside the room, Xu Qingnan listened in shock.
"Li Yi actually knows English? And he sounds so professional?"
She was completely stunned.
Inside the room, Li Yi continued explaining the grammar rules to Xu Qingyao with patience.
In truth, Li Yi hadn't formally studied English in school. Instead, he had learned it through real-life experiences. In his previous life, most of his business partners were foreigners, so he had picked it up naturally through communication.
His English might not have been academically refined, but because of his direct interactions with native speakers, his language skills were far more authentic than what was typically taught in schools.
Under his guidance, within just an hour, Xu Qingyao felt as if a new door to the world of English had opened before her.
After they completed a mock test, Li Yi finally noticed Xu Qingnan standing at the door.
"Qingnan, why do you look so surprised?" he asked with a smile.
Xu Qingnan snapped out of her daze and stepped forward.
"When did you learn English? How come I never knew?" she asked, still skeptical.
Li Yi shrugged. "I learned it back in school. You know what I do every day. How would I have time to study English otherwise?"
Although she still found it a bit suspicious, Li Yi looked sincere, so she nodded and chose to believe him.
As she walked away, Li Yi let out a sigh of relief.
"That was close."
Xu Qingnan had learned English in school too, but she had dropped out early, so she didn't have much exposure to it. She had been a top student back then, but due to various reasons, she had chosen to leave her studies behind.
Li Yi glanced at the darkening sky outside the window, deep in thought.
By now, the truck from Donghua Clothing Company should have almost reached Jiangling. The goods would arrive in Jiangcheng by tomorrow, and with that, his industrial plan would officially begin!
Once the clothing store started turning a profit, he had to convince Xu Qingnan to resign from her job and take over the business as soon as possible. That way, she wouldn't have to work for others anymore, and he could focus on his next big plan with peace of mind.
At first, Li Yi had considered letting her be a full-time housewife, focusing on beauty and leisure. But knowing her personality, he realized that was impossible. Xu Qingnan was a strong, independent woman. She would never be content just staying at home while he provided for the family.
Since she wanted to work, it was better to let her run her own business rather than work for someone else.

The Next Day
The night passed uneventfully. The following morning, when Li Yi arrived at the warehouse, he found that the shelves had already been assembled.
Not only that, but the shelves had also been painted with anti-rust coating and were now drying outside.
More importantly, he noticed that Xiao Wu and Da Chu had bloodshot eyes and looked exhausted.
It was obvious—they had worked through the night.
"What time did you guys go to bed last night?" Li Yi asked.
Xiao Wu tried to act nonchalant. "Not too late... around midnight."
Li Yi frowned. "Nonsense. Look at your eyes, they're completely bloodshot. Do you think you can fool me?"
Da Chu chuckled and admitted, "Brother Yi, I was up until three in the morning, and they all went to bed after two."
"You stayed up that late?"
"Well, the goods are arriving today, and we didn't want to be unprepared. We had to finish setting up the warehouse first!"
Hearing this, Li Yi felt touched. He patted Da Chu's shoulder and said, "Alright, no need for sentimental words. Just know that as long as I have food, you guys will never go hungry!"
"Yeah!"
Li Yi spent the entire morning overseeing the warehouse operations.
Da Chu and his team worked in an efficient assembly-line style—some were welding shelves, others were unloading goods, while some were painting and drying the shelves.
At noon, Li Yi sent someone to buy a feast—roast chicken, braised beef, and steamed buns. Since they had to continue working in the afternoon, he didn't buy alcohol but instead got plenty of soda.
After finishing their meal, they immediately resumed work.
Around 1 PM, the sound of a truck's horn echoed outside the warehouse.
A Jiefang truck pulled up at the entrance of the packaging factory.
Li Yi immediately stood up from the ground.
"Brother Yi, is the cargo here?" Xiao Wu asked excitedly.
Li Yi nodded. "Yes! Everyone, get ready to unload!"
Xiao Wu, Wei Zi, and Da Chu stood up, dusted off their clothes, and headed toward the truck.
The driver's side door opened, and Wei Sanpao jumped out, grinning.
"Brother Yi, I'm back!"
Li Yi smiled. "Good job! Was the trip smooth?"
"It was fine. The truck broke down once, but we fixed it quickly!"
"Glad to hear that. Have the driver bring the truck inside so we can start unloading."
"Got it!"
With so many hands helping, the truck was unloaded in under two hours.
The warehouse, which had been empty just hours ago, was now stacked to the ceiling with clothing.
Everyone, including Xiao Wu, was stunned. They had known that Li Yi wasn't running a small business—after all, renting a store for 80,000 yuan per year was no joke.
But they hadn't expected it to be this massive.
There were tens of thousands of clothing items in the warehouse.
It was clear that Li Yi had invested a huge amount of money into this venture.
Xiao Wu hesitated and asked, "Brother Yi, there are so many clothes here… do you really think we can sell them all?"
Li Yi smirked. "Don't worry about that. Just make sure you organize them properly by style and size this afternoon. And don't forget to take precautions against rats!"
"Understood!"
Wei Sanpao wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Brother Yi, I'm a bit tired, but I can still hold on. Are we going to the store now?"
Li Yi nodded. "Yes! Pack up—we're heading to Lianhua Plaza in the city center!"
With that, he and Wei Sanpao left the warehouse, ready to take the next big step in their business journey.
