Chapter 1

I'm the youngest forensic sketch artist at the police station,

Ivo is a star at the fire department.

We were the envied model couple.

The biggest jewelry store in our city was robbed,

While sorting through photos of suspects,

I discovered my fiancé picking out a necklace.

But the woman beside him wasn't me.

On the anniversary of my mother's death,

I miscarried.

Clutching my stomach, I called Ivo, begging him to take me to the hospital.

Ivo said, "Meadow forgot her keys and can't get home. I'm a firefighter, I need to let her in."

Leaving me lying in a pool of blood.

I asked for a breakup.

This time, I'm the one leaving you.

Ivo said in front of his friends, "She's making a big deal out of nothing this time. After we break up, don't come begging me to take you back."

Later,

When he was in an accident and lying in a hospital bed hoping I'd visit,

I only tossed out one line:

"No need to save him, he's not gonna die anyway."

------

I am a forensic sketch artist,

helping the police find suspects, as the name implies.

"Everyone, come to the conference room. Urgent notice."

"This morning, there was a major robbery at Golden Treasures Jewelry Store. The robbers are still at large. The police strongly suspect this was a premeditated case with prior scouting."

Captain Zhang played the video.

"As you can see, there are three suspects, all wearing black clothes and black hats. Our goal is to review the store's surveillance footage from the past month, looking for any clues to identify the suspects who may have scouted the location."

In our line of work, the most crucial skill is a keen eye. We need to identify suspects from blurry footage based on their body shape, walking style, and small habits.

"I found something."

In the paused frame, a man wearing a gray jacket appeared.

I noticed that over the past month, he came twice a week, each time with a different outfit. Sometimes he stayed outside, other times he went in.

The most recent visit was four days ago.

While I was still excited about finding a suspect,

a couple in the corner of the surveillance footage caught my attention.

The woman was holding a necklace, smiling at the man.

But this man...

The clothes he was wearing looked just like the Christmas gift I gave to Ivo.I calmly collected myself, silently telling myself it was just a coincidence.

But my hands didn't believe it, and I rewound the security footage.

The man's half profile was visible, smiling at the woman.

Without a doubt, this man was the one who shared my bed.

Ivo, my partner of 7 years.

For the next while, my mind was a complete fog.

Ivo's smile was just like the day I agreed to be his girlfriend.

He looked so happy.

After work, I called Ivo.

"Ivo, where were you last Thursday?"

I couldn't let it go, so I asked again.

Because last Thursday, Ivo said he got a last-minute notice to go into work.

I understood, because he truly loved his job.

I remember back in college.

We were walking around the track at night.

Ivo held my hand, his eyes full of love.

"Aria, once I start working, we'll get a kitten together. Whatever you like, I'll like too."

Seven years have passed. The Ivo now and the Ivo from college.

What exactly had changed? I didn't know.

"Didn't I tell you I had an assignment last Thursday? Why are you still asking?"

A hint of impatience came through the phone.

"Gotta go, I'm driving."

When Ivo got home,

He saw me sitting blankly on the couch."Why haven't you made dinner? What are we eating tonight?"

He walked straight into the kitchen.

After dinner was ready,

We sat down face to face to eat.

Speechless.

I opened my lips,

"Ivo, you were at the Goldsmith's last Thursday."

The man across from me paused slightly as he picked up his food.

"Are you following me?"

There was a hint of mockery in Ivo's eyes.

He caught me.

"I'm asking if you were."

"With a girl, right? You betrayed me."

I looked straight at Ivo.

Trying to read something from his expression.

But after seven years together,

Ivo had me all figured out.

He looked up at me.

"Meadow is a little girl I saved. She said her brother's birthday was coming up and asked me to help pick out a gift."

He's lying to me. The girl was holding a women's necklace.

I wanted to say more, but Ivo noticed my hesitation.
