Chapter 14

In the midst of thunderous applause, we escaped from the banquet hall.

Clayton was caught completely off guard by this scene, unable to even grab the hem of my dress.

We fled all the way back home and shut the door.

We kissed and embraced, the joy of reuniting after a long separation leaving us with nothing but the warmth of each other in our arms.

It wasn't until the sky grew dim that I realized he had come back with me after escaping his own wedding.

"What are we going to do now that I've stolen you away?"

"Your family won't send people to chase after you, will they?"

"How about we escape abroad? Europe, Australia, America, Canada - no, too cold. Southeast Asia is too close..."

Jaxon pulled me into his arms, as he always did, burying his head in the crook of my neck and nuzzling me gently like a puppy.

"Don't worry, no one will chase me or drag me back. We don't need to leave the country."
