Chapter 5: Clash of Shadows

Jin Xian and the masked warrior clashed in the moonlit forest. Their blades met with a sharp ring, sparks flying as their weapons struck again and again.

Jin Xian had fought many assassins before, but this one was different. Faster. Stronger. Deadlier.

The warrior's sword moved with precision, forcing Jin Xian to dodge and counter. A swift slash came toward his chest—he barely twisted in time, the blade cutting through his sleeve instead of his flesh.

The masked man stepped back, his deep voice calm. "You're skilled. But skill alone won't save you."

Jin Xian smirked beneath his mask. "We'll see."

He lunged forward, attacking with lightning speed. His dagger flashed, aiming for the warrior's throat. But the man twisted his body unnaturally, avoiding the strike at the last moment.

Jin Xian's instincts screamed—this opponent was no ordinary human.

Before he could react, the warrior's sword came down. Jin Xian barely managed to block, but the force sent him skidding backward, his feet digging into the dirt.

His mind raced. Who was this man? How could he be this strong?

The warrior tilted his head. "Still standing? Impressive. But tell me—why do you seek the past so desperately?"

Jin Xian tightened his grip on his blade. "Because I need to know who I really am."

The warrior chuckled. "Then let's see if you're worthy of the truth."

In a blink, he vanished.

Jin Xian's eyes widened. Where did he go?!

A whisper of air—behind him!

Jin Xian spun around just in time. The warrior's blade was already descending, aiming for his head.

With no time to dodge, Jin Xian raised his dagger—

CLANG!

The impact sent a shockwave through his arm, nearly breaking his defense. He gritted his teeth. This fight wasn't just about skill-it was a test.

And he refused to lose.

The battle wasfar from over.
