SC : Our Bond (1)

Hakan never liked humans, let alone being in the middle of a crowd of humans. The presence of humans made him frown. However, because his mate was so happy to mingle with humans, Hakan tried to get used to standing in the middle of humans.

Some looked at Hakan in awe, while others looked at him enviously. Hakan didn't care about any of them. From start to finish, his gaze was only focused on Eir, who was busy buying snacks from a street vendor.

"Please give me that one!"

Hakan watched Eir and then remembered how Eir chose to run away from the pack after Val chose to accept Elyna despite her complicated relationship with the vampire race. Hakan knew that Eir was only worried about her brother. However, as someone who felt the strength of the mate bond, he knew that it wasn't easy for Val to leave her mate for a vampire.

"Can you stop following me?!"

While Hakan was daydreaming, Eir returned and immediately scolded him with a frown. Hakan stared at Eir. Even when Eir was angry, Hakan couldn't help but think that she was very cute.

"Go away! I'm fine even if I'm alone!"

Hakan didn't budge when Eir tried to push his body away. Hakan was used to Eir's rejection. He knew deep down that Eir was never serious about chasing him away.

"Hakan!"

"I won't bother you. I just want to make sure you're safe."

Hakan immediately held Eir's hand when the girl was about to hit his chest. Hakan knew Eir was strong. Even so, Hakan didn't want his mate to get hurt from hitting his hard body.

Hakan held Eir's hand carefully and then kissed both of her hands. That little touch made Hakan more comfortable than anything. Eir's pheromones were the only reason why he was still sane when he was raised with his parents' obsession and madness.

"Please."

Hakan knew his pleas always managed to melt Eir's heart. He saw how Eir's face turned red before she turned her face away in embarrassment.

"Then, buy a hat and a mask to cover your face! I'm sick of seeing you bare your face in front of everyone!"

"Okay."

Hakan smiled thinly, gently stroking Eir's hair. His eyes then looked at the clothing store not far from where he was. Hakan knew that Eir wanted to finish her food outside. Therefore, he went into the store alone.

Hakan bought a hat and mask, then went out to meet Eir again. However, he couldn't find Eir anywhere when he returned. His expression changed instantly. His blue eyes darkened when he realized Eir was no longer near him.

"Eir."

Hakan dropped everything to chase Eir when he felt she was quickly moving away from him. Eir wouldn't leave him without a clear reason. Hakan knew that something had happened to Eir, and he was a little frustrated because he couldn't figure out what it was because he hadn't marked her as his mate.

"Grr."

As soon as Hakan entered the road flanked by pine forests on his right and left, he immediately transformed into his wolf form. Hakan flinched when he could feel Eir was in danger. He charged through everything, almost looking like a mad wolf that crashed into everything with his strength.

HOWL!

Hakan tried to call Eir, but he didn't get any response. Hakan also couldn't contact Val via telepathy. Everything was so suspicious that he wished he could just arrive at his mate's side right then and there.

"!"

Suddenly, Hakan couldn't feel his mate anymore. Hakan still went to the place where his mate's pheromones were last smelled. In that place, he found Val lying down with quite severe injuries.

Traces of battle were everywhere. But there was something that caught Hakan's attention. He smelled gunpowder, and it wasn't ordinary gunpowder. Hakan smelled gunpowder that was commonly used by non-human hunters.

"Alpha!"

Hakan turned his head and found Zen, who had just arrived by car with the other core members of the pack. They looked surprised when they saw Hakan. But when they didn't see Eir anywhere, their faces looked even paler.

"Hakan, Eir...."

"She disappeared when I looked away. Her last trace ended here. Then I saw Alpha and smelled hunters around here."

Hakan clenched his fists tightly. His mind began to be blurred because of Eir's disappearance. The fate of those who fell into the hands of hunters was already predictable. If he didn't move quickly, the hunters might take Eir to a place he couldn't reach anymore.

"Hakan!"

Hakan ignored the screams of the other werewolves as he returned to his wolf form to look for the slightest clue as to where his mate had been taken.

***

"Hakan..."

When Hakan returned to the pack, everyone looked at him worriedly. His glowing blue eyes were a sign that Hakan was on the verge of madness. Hakan didn't talk to anyone. The first person he came to when he returned was Zen, who was watching over the unconscious Val.

"Hakan."

Like the others, Zen also gave him a worried look. Hakan looked at the still unconscious Val, then back at Zen.

"I'm leaving the pack."

Zen clenched his fists. Hakan knew Zen understood what he meant by that. Hakan had been circling the forest where Eir had disappeared. When he realized that Eir was not there, he finally came to a decision.

"I need more power to find Eir. I have to go back. Therefore, I will break my bond with this pack."

Pack members usually could not break the pack's bond without the permission of their alpha. But Hakan was different. He was born to be an alpha. Therefore, it was not difficult for him to break the bond if he wanted to.

Val, Zen, and the core members of the Silver Moon Pack knew who he really was, but they still accepted him with open arms. Hakan knew that he would not be able to be a part of them again if he left. But with Val injured, Hakan feared that he would only waste more time if he stayed there.

"I understand."

Hakan looked at Zen. The man smiled bitterly. Like Hakan, Zen was also worried about his sister.

"My brother has ordered that none of us should stop you from leaving the pack if that is your decision. You are free to do what you want, Hakan. Our pack will always be open to you."

Hakan secretly clenched his fists. He knew. Only Val's pack would accept a monster like him.

"Please... find my sister, Hakan. She may be mischievous and likes to talk rudely. Even so... she is still my most precious sister."

Zen couldn't hold back his tears as he asked Hakan to find Eir. Zen couldn't go anywhere while Val was injured. For the time being, he could only leave the search for Elyna and Eir to the other members of the pack.

They had found a clue about where Elyna was. But Eir was different. They could feel that Eir someone had forcibly removed Eir's pack bond. Now, no one knew where Eir was or if she was alive or dead.

"Eir is alive, and I will find her."

Zen nodded. He took a deep breath. For Val's sake, he had to look strong until his sister regained consciousness.

"I leave Eir to you, Hakan."

Hakan nodded. After saying goodbye to Zen and the unconscious Val, he finally left to go to a place with no return.
