The Truth They Hid

The car pulled into an underground parking lot beneath an old warehouse. Daniel followed the man and Elena inside, his mind racing.

Inside, the warehouse looked abandoned—except for a table in the center, covered in documents, old newspaper clippings, and maps of Spain, England, and the United States.

The man turned. "I work for a division of intelligence that doesn't officially exist. My name is Agent Whitaker. And you, Daniel Carter, are not just an ordinary boy."

Daniel crossed his arms. "You think I have powers."

"We don't think. We know."

Elena handed Daniel an old medical report with his name on it.

It detailed tests performed on him when he was five years old.

"You were different even back then," Whitaker said. "Your brain works on a frequency that most people can't even comprehend. That's why you see time differently."

Daniel's hands clenched around the paper. "Then who are the people after me?"

Whitaker sighed. "A private organization known as The Dominion. They've been hunting people like you for decades."

Whitaker walked to a large TV screen and turned it on. Security camera footage played.

It showed two men in black suits entering a café in Igualada.

"These men are Dominion operatives," Whitaker said. "They arrived two days ago. They're looking for you."

Daniel's stomach twisted. "How do I stop them?"

Whitaker shook his head. "You don't. You run."

Daniel gritted his teeth. He was tired of running.

Daniel returned to school the next day, pretending nothing was wrong. But he noticed subtle changes.

A black car parked across the street. A man sitting outside a café, reading a newspaper but never turning a page.

They were watching.

That afternoon, as he left football practice, a hand grabbed his arm.

It was Sofia. Her eyes were wide with fear.

"My father… he told me something. The police are looking for a foreigner in Igualada. Someone connected to a dangerous group."

Daniel's breath caught.

"They think it's you."
