The weight of Elaris' words pressed down on me like a suffocating force. The air in the room had grown heavier, thick with unspoken fears. I could feel their gazes on me—Lorenzo, Vincenzo, Caelyn, and Elaris—but I couldn't face them.

Not after what I had just learned.

"If you cannot control it, the Abyss will take control for you."

My mother hadn't just lost herself—she had become the thing she feared. And now, I was standing on that same path.
