The Justice League sat in grim silence as the footage replayed. The screen displayed the smoldering remains of Cadmus Labs, the destruction stretching across an entire city block, with fragments of debris scattered over the streets of Metropolis.
A woman stood at the center of it all—blonde hair, piercing yellow eyes, clad in obsidian-black armor. Her sword, wreathed in a dark aura, had carved through reality itself, unleashing devastation that no one had predicted. The casualty count was staggering: 928 dead, 400 critically injured, and over 4,000 wounded.
Superman clenched his fists, his jaw tight. His rage was barely restrained. "How?" His voice was low but seething. "How did this happen?"
No one responded. The weight of the moment suffocated the room.
Superman slammed his fist onto the table, cracking the reinforced metal with terrifying ease. His voice erupted with fury. "How the hell did this happen in my city?! The exact moment Kara and I were off-world?!"
"Clark, control yourself," Wonder Woman said firmly, her voice a steady contrast to his. "This is not your fault. No one could have predicted an attack of this scale."
Superman exhaled sharply but said nothing.
Batman, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. His voice was calm but carried a grim edge. "It's not just about the attack. It's about who attacked. That woman… we have no records of her. No history. No intelligence. And it's the same with Nuxsus. A name that appeared out of nowhere, a force we don't understand."
He glanced at the assembled League members. "But I do have information. A meeting with an old enemy confirmed it."
All eyes turned to him as he began his explanation.

....
The warehouse was abandoned, long forgotten by the city around it. The air smelled of rust and decay, shadows pooling in the corners like waiting beasts.
Batman stepped forward, his presence commanding despite the darkness. Behind him, his team—Wonder Woman, Flash, Nightwing, and Martian Manhunter—stood ready, each prepared for betrayal at a moment's notice.
Across from them, a collection of enemies stood waiting. Klarion the Witch Boy, Black Manta, Queen Bee… and at the forefront, Vandal Savage.
Savage smirked. "Prepared for anything, as expected." His deep voice carried amusement, but there was an edge to it.
Batman's eyes flicked over the assembled villains. "And so are you."
Savage's smirk faded. "We don't have time for games, Detective. We have a common enemy. One that you and your League do not understand. But I do."
Batman's gaze didn't waver. "Nuxsus."
He turned slightly, locking eyes with Klarion—one of Chaos' most prominent agents.
"You work for the Lords of Chaos. Tell me what you know about him."
Klarion raised his hands defensively. "Whoa there, Bats! Hate to break it to you, but I've never heard of this guy. Not me, not Teekl, not any of the Lords of Chaos."
Batman studied him carefully. No deceit. Klarion was as confused as they were.
Batman took that in, then turned back to Savage. "Tell me what you know."
Vandal Savage exhaled slowly, looking at the ground as if he was remembering something he wished he could forget. Then, when he looked up, his expression was grim.
"You don't understand what you're dealing with," Savage began. His voice was steady, but there was something rare in it—fear.
"I have lived since the dawn of mankind. I have seen civilizations rise and fall, watched as great kings and tyrants shaped history. I have fought, killed, conquered, and survived through the ages. I have faced gods, demons, and monsters alike."
His eyes darkened. "But among all the names that I have heard whispered in fear… there was one name that we made sure to erase from history. One name that should never have been spoken again."
He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a near whisper.
"Nuxsus."
The name lingered in the air like a curse.
Savage continued, his tone more severe. "He was not a mere warlord. Not just a conqueror. Nuxsus was a force of nature. His empire—if you can even call it that—was built on blood, ash, and terror. He did not rule like a man. He ruled like a god. And not a benevolent one."
Batman remained impassive, but the others were visibly uneasy.
"In the Bronze Age," Savage went on, "humanity was on the verge of a golden age. We had advancements, civilizations that could have led to progress far beyond what we have today. The Greeks, the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians… all of them were growing, evolving."
He clenched his fists. "And then he came. Nuxsus."
"He led a people known in history as the 'Sea Peoples.' But that name? It's a lie. A fabrication. His kingdom was Nuxsus. A nation built from nothing by his hand, named after him. And ruled only by him."
Savage's voice turned grim. "Nuxsus destroyed everything. He waged war not for land, not for power, but for chaos. He didn't just conquer—he erased. Entire civilizations wiped from existence because he willed it. Knowledge lost. Progress undone. He set humanity back a thousand years."
The room was silent. No one dared to interrupt.
Savage's gaze burned with memory. "He did not sit on a throne and command armies from the shadows. No… Nuxsus was always at the front. The first to spill blood. The first to kill. He did not tolerate weakness—he exterminated it."
He exhaled sharply. "In his time, 841 wars were waged. He won 840. The only thing that could kill him wasn't a warrior or an army—it was disease. A plague that swept through his kingdom at the height of his reign. He died at 43… and only then did the world breathe again."
Savage looked directly at Batman. "I myself fell to him 49 times. I died at his hands, over and over, and each time, I learned fear. I learned that there are things in this world that cannot be reasoned with. Nuxsus was one of them."
He let his words settle before speaking again. "When he finally died, we—the remaining rulers of that time—erased his name. We buried it, burned it, wiped it from history. Because even in death, he was too dangerous. We did not dare let the world remember him."
He paused. "And yet, he has returned."
A deep, chilling silence followed.
Batman spoke first. "Why are you telling me this?"
Savage's expression hardened. "Because I am afraid. Not for myself. For the world. If Nuxsus is truly back, we have only one chance to stop him—before he gathers followers, before he charms people into serving him as he did in the past. Because once he builds his empire again…"
He looked Batman dead in the eye.
"It will be too late."
Klarion, for once, said nothing. Queen Bee looked pale. Even Black Manta seemed uneasy.
Savage nodded to Klarion, who raised his hand, summoning a glowing red portal.
Savage stepped toward it but stopped. "Consider my words, Detective. If we do not stop him now… there will be nothing left to save."
With that, he vanished into the portal.
The League members were left standing in the warehouse, the weight of Savage's words heavy in the air.
Batman's fists clenched. This… this was worse than he had imagined.
And for the first time in a long while, the Dark Knight felt something unfamiliar creeping in.
Doubt.
