The Justice League sat in silence, the weight of Batman's revelation sinking in like an anchor in deep water. The name itself—Nuxsus—held no meaning to most of them, but the reaction from Batman, the way he spoke of him, made it clear that this wasn't just another villain.
It was Superman who broke the silence first. "So let me get this straight. We're considering forming an alliance… just to take down Nuxsus? Just to stop one man?"
Batman nodded grimly. But then, after a pause, he clarified.
"It's not one man. It's the man. The one who brought terror to an age where war was survival and conquest was law. A monster from a time when civilization was still in its infancy. A creature that even Vandal Savage—Vandal Savage—fears."
The room tensed. The name Savage alone was enough to make them wary. The immortal conqueror who had walked through history shaping empires, toppling civilizations, and outlasting every major power shift. For thousands of years, he had been unstoppable. If he feared something…
"How?" Wonder Woman's voice cut through the silence. Her expression was hard, but her grip on the table betrayed the tension she felt. "How is that possible? Savage has seen the rise and fall of empires. He's faced gods, monsters, and some of the worst humanity has to offer. Who in Hades is this man?"
Batman exhaled, leaning forward. He knew how absurd this sounded, how impossible. But it was true.
Superman steeled his gaze. "Which is why we're considering teaming up with villains just to stop Nuxsus?"
"It's not that simple," Batman said. "We only know that the League of Villains is involved. We don't know if Nuxsus is truly their enemy… or if this is all a game he's playing."
The room fell silent again as the implications set in.
Superman crossed his arms. "So far, the confirmed members of the League of Villains include Vandal Savage, Ra's al Ghul, Black Adam… and now Maxwell Lord, who is dead. If Luthor is involved, that only makes things worse."
"Luthor is always involved," Batman said coldly. "We just don't have proof."
Wonder Woman straightened. "Then isn't this an opportunity? If the League of Villains is already at war with this Nuxsus, we could take advantage of it. Work with one to eliminate the other."
J'onn nodded but raised a chilling possibility. "And what if this is all a trap? What if they are the ones playing us?"
Flash furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"
Martian Manhunter's expression darkened. "What if the League of Villains has already allied with Nuxsus? What if they want us to believe they are against him, only to lure us in?"
The thought sent a chill down their spines. And then, a voice usually calm, almost passive, spoke.
Dr. Fate.
"Then why shouldn't we do the same?"
Superman turned to him, narrowing his eyes. "What do you mean?"
Dr. Fate remained composed. "The League of Villains is an organization of threats. Nuxsus is just one man. We could do the same thing. Approach him. Strike a deal. Use him to eliminate them… and once they're gone, deal with him as well."
The silence was deafening.
Then—
SLAM!
Superman's fist crashed against the table.
"This is ridiculous," he said, his voice sharp with anger. "We do not ally with either side! We are not manipulators. We do not play games with chaos!"
Batman nodded. "I agree. Working with villains will always lead to disaster. They will betray us. Every time."
But Wonder Woman tilted her head slightly. "It's not a bad plan. We could use them against each other—eliminate two enemies in one move."
Aquaman folded his arms. "And if we play it carefully, we can make sure neither side realizes we're against them until it's too late."
Superman's eyes narrowed. "What exactly are you suggesting?"
Aquaman's gaze was steady. "We work with both of them. The League of Villains and Nuxsus. Make them believe we're considering an alliance. When the battle begins, we ensure that they fight each other first. Then, when they're weak, we strike. We wipe them both out."
Superman's jaw tightened. His gut told him this was wrong.
But he wasn't blind. He could see the rest of the League wasn't as opposed to the idea as he was. Even Batman, who never endorsed deception, wasn't immediately shutting it down.
Superman exhaled slowly. "…I still don't like it."
"Neither do I," Batman admitted.
But deep down, beneath the logic, beneath the strategy, beneath the cold calculations…
There was something else.
An emotion he rarely, if ever, felt.
Fear.
Because while everyone was debating tactics…
Only he had seen it.
The way Savage had spoken about Nuxsus.
Not as a rival. Not as an opponent. Not even as an equal.
But as a nightmare. A terror long buried, now unearthed.
And if a man like Vandal Savage was afraid of Nuxsus…
Then what did that mean for them?

Meanwhile, the man they were all discussing—Nuxsus—sat comfortably, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he pulled up his status screen. The latest influx of chaos had rewarded him handsomely, and now it was time to reap the benefits.
The familiar mechanical chime of the system rang in his mind.
{You have acquired 6 Bronze Tickets, 1 Silver Ticket, and 2 Gold Tickets. Would you like to roll now?}
"Obviously," Nuxsus muttered, already anticipating what surprises awaited him.

Basic Camouflage (Stealth Ability) – Gifted to Blood Knight Darius

Nuxsus raised a brow at the results. "Harley's gonna love that. Raven, too… She's got a thing for ice, doesn't she?" He chuckled before moving on.

Voidstep Boots (Equipment – Dimensional Gear) – Gifted to Saber Artoria Alter
Grants a short-range teleportation ability once every few minutes.
"Now that's useful," he mused. "Saber's mobility just got a hell of a lot better."
But the real prize was yet to come. His smirk widened as he rolled the two gold tickets, the system's voice reverberating with a slight echo of importance.
