Chapter 1

Our honeymoon abroad turned into a nightmare when riots broke out.

To help Elena escape, my newlywed husband shoved me out of the car without hesitation.

In my darkest moment of despair, my childhood sweetheart Dashiell appeared like an angel to save me.

He helped me overcome my trauma and even proposed marriage.

I suffered three miscarriages, but he never once blamed me.

When I joyfully discovered I was pregnant for the fourth time, I accidentally overheard him talking to my ex-husband.

My ex asked, "Don't you regret personally causing the deaths of three unborn children just to get fetal blood to save Elena?"

Dashiell gave a bitter smile and replied, "I'd do anything to keep Elena healthy and happy."

Only then did I realize this seemingly blissful marriage had been a conspiracy from the very beginning.

Both of my husbands only ever truly cared about Elena.

If that's how it is, there's no need for me to cling to a loveless marriage any longer.

But why is it that after I left, the man who claimed not to love me went mad with longing for me?

After receiving the prenatal check-up report, I was excited to share the good news with Dashiell.

But outside the VIP hospital room, I witnessed an unbelievable scene.

My ex-husband and current husband were both gathered around the bed, showing concern for Elena.

Dashiell, usually cold and aloof, looked at Elena with eyes so tender they seemed about to melt.

"Don't worry, Elena. I've already contacted the best medical team for you. We'll perform the surgery as soon as the baby is a bit bigger."

"Will Felicity agree? What happened last time already hurt her deeply. I'm afraid if something goes wrong again, she might do something rash in her grief..."

"Elena, you're too kind," Dashiell gently stroked Elena's head, comforting her softly.

"You don't need to care about her feelings. If it weren't for you, she'd never experience my love in her lifetime. She should be grateful to you."

Inside the room, it was a scene of domestic bliss and intimate affection.

Outside, I stood with tears streaming down my face.

Suddenly, I recalled the day my ex-husband Damien abandoned me.

In a foreign land torn by war, when I was at my most desperate and helpless.Dashiell was moving against the crowd, walking towards me. In the sound of gunfire, he held me tightly.

He looked at me with deep affection and said, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

"To the ends of the earth, past and future, as long as I'm alive, I'll risk my life to protect you."

At that time, I naively believed I had found true love, seeing Dashiell as my salvation.

Who would have thought that he would be the one to truly push me into the abyss?

Saving me, marrying me, and having children with me were all for his beloved Elena.

The continuously flowing tears washed away my last bit of attachment to Dashiell.

I turned to find the doctor and slowly said, "Please schedule an abortion for me. I want to terminate this pregnancy."

The doctor looked at me with shock.

"Are you sure? Your body can't handle this stress, and just now when your husband heard about your pregnancy, he was so excited his eyes were red. If he finds out..."

I interrupted the doctor, "He's not my husband."

He's a liar who ruined my life.

Hearing this, the doctor sighed and said no more.

After the procedure, I sat in the hallway with a deathly pale face.

Dashiell came running hurriedly, carrying a box of fruit in his hands."Felicity, have you been waiting anxiously? I just went to get your favorite cake. How was the prenatal checkup? Is our sweetheart doing alright?"

Dashiell looked at me with sincere eyes.

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of my mouth.

I had seen this box of cake in Elena's hospital room.

The so-called specially bought gift was nothing more than leftovers she had discarded.

As for our sweetheart... he's fine.

He will be reborn into a family that truly loves him, rather than being born into a web of lies and deceit.

Lost in thought, Dashiell took my hand and carefully rested his head on my belly.

"Felicity, you don't know how happy I am. I swear, after the baby is born, I'll be good to you and the child for the rest of my life."

Is this goodness born from love, or from guilt and compensation for his wrongdoings?

I didn't know what to say.

Using the excuse of being tired, I gently pushed Dashiell away.

Just after getting home, Dashiell received a text message and hurriedly left.

I went to his study.

The bookshelves and computer were filled with information about leukemia treatment.

This man who had been proud his entire life. For the sake of the ailing Elena, I groveled and begged everywhere.

Locked in the safe were not company secrets.

It was a notebook recording Elena's preferences.

"Elena has a sensitive stomach, each meal should be low in oil and salt, and no spice."

"Elena loves roses. The rose estate in the suburbs can be completed by year-end. I hope she'll be happy when she sees it."

"Sweet foods improve mood. Elena studied in France before, French desserts should suit her palate better."

He spent a fortune, buying jewelry worth hundreds of millions for Elena.

He poured his heart and soul into creating a dreamlike estate for Elena.

Every word and sentence was filled with deep love for Elena.

Not a single mention of me, his childhood sweetheart and wife.

The love I prided myself on couldn't compare to a fraction of what Elena received.

After a moment of contemplation, I dialed a number with tears in my eyes.

"Hello, I'd like to order a fake death service."

"Three days from now, car accident, two lives lost."
