Ch 8. The Secret of Jit’s Parents

[Streets of Dalton City –Block B]

After the tense encounter with Rahul, Jit pulls out his phone. He dials his parents again, the familiar ringing tone grounding him amidst the bustling city noise.

Jit (calmly):

"Mom, Dad, where are you now?"

His mother's warm voice comes through the speaker, filled with excitement.

Mom (cheerfully):

"We're on the way to Block B, Jit! We've also sent our things in a truck it should reach you soon."

Just as she finishes speaking, the loud rumble of a truck engine echoes from around the corner, its brakes screeching slightly as it comes to a stop nearby. Jit turns his head and spots a sturdy, dust-covered truck pulling up right in front of his new house.

Jit (smiling):

"Looks like it's already here. I'll hang up now and get the packages inside."

He ends the call, tucks his phone into his pocket, and strides toward the truck. The driver hops out, giving Jit a friendly nod before opening the back, revealing stacks of boxes and a few old pieces of furnitur the remnants of his family's modest life.

With surprising ease, Jit begins unloading the packages, his enhanced strength making the heavy lifting effortless. He carries large crates, bundles wrapped in cloth, and even a small wardrobe with one hand, stacking them neatly inside his new house.

After unloading all the packages, Jit carefully arranges the furniture and boxes inside the house. He wipes the sweat off his forehead.

He takes a seat by the window, glancing outside, waiting patiently for his family.

After some time…

The sharp honk of a car horn breaks the silence. A black taxi pulls up in front of the house, its engine humming softly before coming to a stop.

Jit quickly stands up and steps outside . The taxi doors swing open, and his parents and younger siblings spill out.

As soon as his siblings' feet touch the ground, they burst with excitement, their laughter filling the air.

Sonu (wide-eyed, shouting):

"Owwooo! Look at this huge house!"

Soni (running around the yard):

"The yard is so big! We can play here all day!"

They dash inside, their tiny feet thudding against the floors as they explore every room, shouting with joy about the big rooms, tall ceilings, and big windows.

Jit's parents step out of the taxi more slowly, their eyes filled with disbelief as they take in the sight of the house. The sturdy walls, polished doors, and even the well-maintained yard—it was a dream they never thought would come true.

His mother places a hand over her heart, her eyes glistening slightly as she whispers:

Mother (softly):

"Jit… you really did this?"

Jit smiles warmly and gestures for them to come inside. They walk through the house, inspecting every corner, opening doors, running their hands along the walls, and exchanging glances.

Finally, they gather in the living room.

Jit reached into his pouch, pulled out the small vial of Rank 5 medicine, and handed it to his mother . The liquid inside shine faintly.

She held the vial gently, her hands slightly trembling.

"You've spent all the money in one day, haven't you?" she said, her tone a mix of worry and disbelief.

Jit gave a small, reassuring smile. "It's okay, Mother. Money can be earned again. But your health… that's more important."

Jit looked at his father and nodded slightly.

"Father, let's help her take the medicine."

His father approached slowly, kneeling beside his wife. Though his expression was stern, his eyes betrayed the deep concern he felt. Gently placing his hand over hers, he whispered,

"Go on… take it. It'll make you feel better."

With both her husband and son watching over her, Jit's mother open the small vial. The faint scent of herbs and something sweet filled the air. She hesitated for a brief moment, her frail fingers shaking slightly. Then, with a deep breath, she drank the glowing liquid.

The effect was almost immediate.

A warm, gentle light seemed to flow through her body, starting from her chest and spreading outward. The pallor in her cheeks faded, replaced by a soft, healthy blush. The dark circles under her eyes lightened, and her sunken face slowly regained its natural glow. Her weak, tired posture straightened as if new energy surged through her veins.

Jit and his father watched in awe, their hearts swelling with relief.

Jit's mother touched her face, her eyes widening in disbelief as she felt the warmth return to her skin.

"I… I feel… so much better," she whispered, her voice no longer frail but steady and filled with life.

Jit's father, usually a man of few words, trying to hide the tears. He gently squeezed his wife's hand, his voice low and filled with emotion.

"Thank you, Jit… You've saved her."

"Level 257? Sword Saint? Both of them… this strong?"

Just like with his mother's status, dark chains bound the entire window, locking it away as if hiding something . Jit had never heard of such a thing,Status Windows were supposed to display everything clearly.

Many questions started to arise in his mind.

"Who are they really? Why are their statuses locked? Why are they living like ordinary people when they possess such power?"

He opened his mouth to speak fathe.....errrr.. but hesitated.

Jit (thinking):

"But they don't tell us about their condition. They must have a reason for hiding it from us.

His parents were talking to each other, smiling softly, unaware of what Jit had just discovered.

Suppressing his curiosity, Jit forced a casual smile and said,

"You two talk. I'm going to my room."

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away, his heart racing. As he closed the door behind him, he leaned against it, his mind swirling with many questions.

"What is going on with my family?"
