The rest of time spent at House Boreas was dull, he spoke with the Duke, letting him know of all he figured out on his own, the Duke supplied him with a horse and sent him on his way.
Talking with him, helped him learn that the forest was the boundary between the north and the capital of the Kingdom.
The ride back to the forest, was long and lonely but it gave him time to think, he looked down at his boots, Items didn't work like abilities, to find out what they did you would have to go to an appraiser or find out yourself.
In a game like Deminios, Items were as dangerous as mobs, whether it was corrupting you, or just outright killing you, or turning you into a puppet of an outsider, the dangers did not outweigh the rewards, not in real life at least, so it was always safer to just bite your tongue and find an appraiser.
This clearly, didn't apply to his gift, the armor set was one he was to receive from his god, he doubted she wanted to do him harm, but that also did not mean he should just start experimenting on his own, even beneficial abilities could become deadly in the right situation.
The only thing he discovered, was that the boots made him run faster if he so desired, although having the ability to transform into living lightning might have made that ability obsolete. Regardless he was thankful and offered a prayer to his god.
Now came the hard part, Aegeon wasn't much of a thinker to begin with, he would try and fail, and then write it down, and try and fail again until he won. On paper this seemed easy, just have patience and the will to stand behind a monitor for ten years whilst barely making progress. Yet doing that in the comfort of his rundown apartment was much easier than doing that in real life.
Of course, if the situation called for it, Aegeon could put on his thinking cap, which made him ponder, would the presence of the Golden Order in the forest be negligible? The ride to the Duchy was two days, the stay was a measly one, and while the ride back was definitely going to be faster, it was still a grand total of four days.
Was four days enough for the Order to finish their business? Aegeon had to assume that Theodore and that Old knight weren't the only turncoats. Two men never warranted the prominent leader of an Order to hunt them down, if one wanted to look at examples, not even the missing daughter of a Grand Duke called for the Commander of the Order.
"HELP" The awful wails of a grown man reverberated from his left off into a clearing hidden by an unfamiliar forest.
Not this again.
He fought back a sigh and reigned his horse turning to the noise.
A prayer dedicating his victory to his god leaving his throat.
The horse galloped fast to the disturbance, Aegeon's eyes scanned the area.
His eyes widening, the one's crying for help were a group of bandits being slaughtered, by a unit of Platinum Armored Knights, the one on the fore front, was a pink haired woman, her violet eyes narrowing, as the corners of her lips creased into a smile, her eyes twinkling with malice. She was wearing a military uniform that was navy black, with medals adorned the top, a crest of a dragon with the sun and moon in both hands. She looked as if she was sculpted from marble, a beauty no less than Isabellas, her hair reached her waist.
Was the game developer a fan of Aesthetics?
Wait..
Wasn't that.
A knight saw Aegeon and pulled his bow out, shooting faster than he could manage to let a word out.
Are all the people of Deminos insane?
He brought up his spear bending, while deflecting the arrow. His body screaming from the taxing action.
"HEY, YOU FU--" He pulled out his sword and swung, Aegeon brought his spear to meet it, deflecting it upwards, before making his own spear disappear, and pulling back his arm, slamming his fist into the knight's visor, he could feel the helmet rattle from his hit, the knight laying on the floor twitching.
His fist ached as he shook it off.
The other knights gathered around him, their plethora of weapons drawn, slowly closing in from a circle surrounding him.
"Halt"
The knights stopped and stood upright waiting for the next command.
Aegeon blinked and when he opened his eyes a sword was placed against his throat, the Pink-haired woman in front of him. Her eyes were slightly narrowed, a small smile played on her lips, lacking the warmth of a natural one. She looked and felt like a troublemaker.
The feeling of cold metal pressed against his throat didn't help, he subconsciously gulped. This wasn't even the first time he was threatened by a ridiculously beautiful woman.
The fact that it happened twice felt surreal.
"You are?" Her voice melodious, her face tilted slightly, but he could tell the intrigue was fake, her eyes staring into him with the intensity of the rising sun.
"Wandering Paladin" He answered with a frown staining his lips.
She pressed the blade closer as if to fish more words from him.
A sense of deja vu washed over him.
"Church?" She asked.
"Church of Storms" Her eyebrows raised, as she looked up, a wondering look adorned her face, the fake smile replaced by a thin line.
"Never heard of it" Her unnatural smile grew wider, as if the thought of killing him pleased her.
This was going nowhere, he moved fast, incredibly so, his arm swinging as his hand grabbed hold of the blade shattering it into pieces, the shards splintering and impaling his hand.
He was thankful it was a normal sword.
Her eyes widened as she stepped back, a flicker of curiosity fanning in her iris.
The knights around him lowered their weapons ready to advance.
"Feisty" Her grin morphed into a natural one that finally reached her eyes.
The surrounding snow that naturally formed was evaporated in a instant, he looked up into the sky, the right sun seemed to sparkle, as the light bent down shining upon her hands forming a sword.
"Try it with this one" She drew a line in the grass with her sword, scorching it as she walked towards him.
"Stop" Aegeon spit out, what was the point in fighting? The thought swimming in his head.
The less knight orders he made enemies of the better.
"I Don't wish to fight"
"A pacifist" She brought her finger to her mouth, her eyes widening as her eyebrows rised, as if she couldn't believe it.
A sigh left his lips.
"Look" He stepped back "I heard cries so I came"
"Is that so?" She stepped forward, her eyes narrowing slightly.
She raised her hands as if she was about to strike.
Aegeon clenched summing his spear.
She swung down; Aegean was ready to meet her blow.
Her sword dissipating into shimmering light.
She hunched over laughing holding her stomach.
"You should" She continued to laugh.
"You should have seen the look on your face" She wiped a tear from her eye as she kept on laughing.
His spear leaving his hand into the ether, his lips pressed into a thin line, his nose scrunched up, while his eyes narrowed.
Was she insane?
