In a single motion, Jayden tapped the emblem on his chest.
The transformation was instant.
Black fabric spread across his torso like liquid metal, smooth and seamless.
Red accents followed, carving sharp lines down his sides and forearms.
The suit fit close, tight but flexible highlighting every muscle without restricting movement.
Boots formed at his feet, integrated and solid, built for traction and speed.
His hands remained bare, no gloves just the suit wrapping to his wrists.
When it finished, the House of El symbol re-emerged, glowing red against the black suit, pulsing softly in the center of his chest.
' I am glad that I didn't choose a cape, I don't want Darkseid to pull it as I try to walk away'
"Bart!!, what should I do now?"
"Feel the mode!!!" Bart called out from across the gym, pretending to run on a treadmill.
Jayden gave Bart a nod and began to run on the treadmill.
' Feel the mode, feel the speed force....it sounds easy yet complex'
Jayden began to run at a slow pace as the belt rolled beneath him while he tried to find his footing
His speed began to increase with each step he took, the sound barrier broke but he didn't stop...he kept on going.
Mach 1, 2,3, 4,5.
Jayden continued to push his body through raw speed until he reached Mach 6.
'I can push myself further...I know I can'
Jayden continued to push his body as he tried to overcome his limit.
Mach 6.1 ... 6.2 ... 6.3... 6.4... 6.5... 6.6, he kept on pushing but he couldn't reach Mach 7.
'Is this my limit, it feels as if I have hit a Wall'
His body pushed forward, but the force pushing back hit just as hard.
Jayden closed his eyes and began to channel the speed force as he pushed on.
The treadmill shook beneath him, and the resistance that had held him back shattered like glass.
Mach 7.
Mach 8.
Mach 9.
His speed continued to increase.
Mach 10.
Mach 11.
And then…Mach 12.
Bart's eyes narrowed as he stepped closer and began to yell as he said:
"You're so close, FEEL THE MODE BECOME ONE WITH IT!!!"
White and gold sparks crackled from Jayden's body as he continued to run.
They snapped across his arms, coiled around his legs, dancing wildly as if the air itself couldn't hold them.
'I... feel something, a connection...thin, distant but...there'
As he kept running, the world around him began to fade,It felt like he wasn't just running forward rather he was opening a door.
Then he saw it, a flash of light.
Without thinking, he reached out and grabbed it.
...
' Where...am I, what happened'
Jayden grunted as he slowly opened his eyes, he noticed that he was sitting on a bench and infront of him there was a quiet lake.
He turned his head and noticed that near him, there was an old man who he knew very well.
"Grand...pa"
"Good to see you Jayden, but I'm not Jonathan kent"
Jayden raised his eyebrows in confusion as he heard the statement.
He scanned his surroundings and noticed that they were sitting in a park, the park he used to visit with his grandfather.
"How does it feel to be back here"
"It feels awful" Jayden felt a lump rise in his throat, and it was very heavy but he quickly cleared his throat as he continued:
"This is the place we visited before your death, why am I here and where is grandma"
The old man gave a slow nod, looking out at the lake.
"We... thought you'd be more comfortable, talking to someone who looks familiar and in a place you knew."
Jayden blinked.
"We??" Jayden looked at the old man with pity, he thought the old man had lost his mind however he came upon a realisation.
"I felt myself opening a door... as I tapped into the speed force with all my might, am I inside the speed force"
The old man or rather the speed force smiled as it noticed the innocent realisation on Jayden's face.
"When the first subatomic particle sprang forth from the Big Bang to form reality as you know it, we were there.
When the last proton decays, stops vibrating, and plunges the universe into heat death, we'll be there too... and so will you"
Jayden felt his connection to the force grow as he listened to it, he felt like himself understanding it even more as he listened to its words.
Jayden could feel that the speed force wasn't just some extra-dimensional energy source, something that could be controlled or ruled.
It was alive not in the way people lived or breathed , but in how it remembered, how it reached out and how it chose to connect.
It was a sentient force, conscious in its own way, a being of purpose rather than personality.
It had a will, but not desires, it didn't judge or act out of emotion.
It was not good or evil, It simply was a current flowing through time, waiting for those who could hear its call… and keep up.
' I have to listen to it, run with it...not in front of it, not behind....I have to become part of it'
"You know many of the Avatars who reach me tend to reject me but you're different...in a good way"
The tone of the speed force was calm, patient and this made Jayden even more comfortable, it felt as if he was talking to a parental figure.
"We exist across all of space-time, in every moment and place where speed, motion, and temporal flow occur.
We are like the sun...always there, consistent and warm, but out of reach.
But if you seek us, you shall reach us."
The old man ruffled Jayden's hair playfully as "he" smiled.
"As you run, fight, smile and despair... remember that we will always be there "
