Chapter 16: The Price of Victory

Sabrina should have felt relief.

Damian was finished. Nathaniel had erased him from the company with a single call. The setup, the accusations—it was all over.

But as she sat across from Nathaniel, seeing him manage authority with ease, a thought dawned on her.

She had just played the game the way he wanted her to.

And she had won.

But at what cost?

Nathaniel leaned back in his chair, studying her. "You did something impressive tonight."

Sabrina kept her expression neutral. "I did what I had to do."

His lips curved slightly. "You learned faster than I expected."

She exhaled, her fingers tightening around the edge of her chair. "So what now?"

Nathaniel's gaze didn't waver. "Now? You keep proving yourself."

The words sent a chill down her spine. She had survived one battle, but this wasn't the end—it was just the beginning.

She stood. "I should go home."

Nathaniel didn't stop her, but as she turned to leave, he said, "Sabrina."

She paused.

"You played well," he murmured. "But don't forget—trust is a weapon. And you've just shown me how dangerous you can be."

Her heart skipped a beat.

She walked out without another word, but deep down, she knew one thing for sure—she wasn't just working for Nathaniel Knight anymore.

She was stepping into his world.

And there was no turning back.
