Chapter 17: The Invitation

The next morning, Sabrina walked into Knight Industries with her head held high. Whispers followed her, eyes lingering as she passed. News of Damian's sudden downfall had spread like wildfire, and now everyone knew—Sabrina Vance wasn't just another executive.

She was someone to fear.

Her office felt different. More dangerous. She had proved herself, but in doing so, she had painted a target on her back.

A single email was waiting in her inbox.

Subject: Dinner. Tonight. 8 PM.

Sender: Nathaniel Knight.

No location. No explanation. Just an order disguised as an invitation.

Sabrina's fingers hovered over the keyboard. She could say no. She could set boundaries. But she knew better—Nathaniel didn't make casual offers. If he wanted her somewhere, it wasn't a request.

She sighed, closed her laptop, and leaned back in her chair.

It seemed her lessons weren't over yet.

The restaurant was exclusive, hidden behind a steel door in an alleyway, the kind of place where billionaires made deals and buried secrets. The maître d' didn't even ask her name—he simply led her to a private dining room, where Nathaniel was already waiting.

The table was set with wine and candlelight, but this wasn't a date. It was a meeting.

She took a seat, keeping her posture straight. "So, what's this about?"

Nathaniel studied her, his expression unreadable. "You made a move against Damian. Now, the real game begins."

She exhaled slowly. "Meaning?"

He poured her a glass of wine. "Meaning you're no longer just my employee. You've stepped into a world where people will try to use you, destroy you, or turn you into a pawn."

Sabrina lifted the glass but didn't drink. "And what are you trying to turn me into?"

Nathaniel smirked. "That depends. Are you willing to keep playing?"

A chill ran down her spine. This wasn't just about Damian anymore.

She had proven she could survive. Now, she had to decide if she was willing to thrive.

She placed the glass down and met his gaze. "I don't play to lose."

Nathaniel leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with something dark and unreadable.

"Then let's see how far you're willing to go."
