Truth About The War

A cold chill emanates from the surroundings, the cold numb and biting causing Camren to shiver.

Suddenly everyone around him had disappeared and he was all alone. Camren couldn't breathe, he couldn't think, he couldn't feel. It was as though he was floating out of his own body, the cold chilling his soul. He felt the eyes, something dark and sinister watching him with hunger.

Camren gasped, this was all so confusing. One moment he was in the Pack House and the next he was here, unless. That Vampire. Camren cursed.

"Let me go Vampire." Camren snarled and suddenly the chill faded, he was back to the Pack House.

Alicia gave him a concerned look when she noticed he looked shaken. Camren gave her a small smile as he struggled to regain his bearings, she didn't look convinced from the frown on her face, but this was no place to be holding conversations.

Camren's eyes drifted to Lord Magnus whose eyes were narrowed at him with a look that danced between amusement and surprise.

"Interesting." Lord Magnus laughed, the sound cold and jarring causing even Adam to flinch as his fangs glinted dangerously.

Camren shot him his hardest glare hoping the look conveyed his dislike about being toyed by a Vampire's KivYran.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Lord Magnus, but I must meet the Alpha now." Adam said politely.

"Can't say it was a pleasure meeting you Adam." Lord Magnus chuckled.

Camren watched as his long red tail flickered and he couldn't help but wonder if there was a hole at the back of his pants that allowed the tail to pass through. I must confirm when he walks past me. He thought.

"See you later." Unfortunately Camren's curiosity could not be satisfied because instead of walking down the stairs like a normal person, that's if a Vampire could ever be a normal person, he decided to make a dramatic exit, turning into a blur of red and dark smoke. His ominous words echoing in the hallway even seconds after his disappearance.

"We will meet again little wolf." Camren did not share the sentiment.

"Hopefully we never do." Camren snorted.

"Damn Vampire, burn in hell." Adam muttered angrily.

"You could have told him that when he was here." Camren doesn't misses a chance to antagonize the Theta.

Adam growls, but he doesn't bother to reply Camren. A cruel smile dangles on his lip. Let's see if you can still smile after finding out while you are here.

Camrne frowns when he notices the dark smirk that hangs on Adam's lips, surely something sisinster is at play here.

"Let's go." Adam turns back to leading the way, while Camren and Alicia follow behind him.

The walk is short and filled with a tense silence, that ends when they stop in an overbearing large white door with the head of the Chaos Wolf embedded into it's golden handle.

The door is pushed open by the Zotals guarding the door and shut behind them with a resounding bang once they entered the room.

Alicia whimpered, falling to her knees and even Adam shook slightly before regaining his bearings. The only person who was unaffected by the Alpha's presence was Camren, maybe it was the fact that he was wolfless but Camren had never felt the urge to submit before and Alpha or an higher ranked wolf.

Camren takes in the room, it's not actually a room but a huge hall, painted gold and white. A golden chandelier shimmers from the ceiling and a white rug is placed on the marbled floor. Murals of Wolf history are painted on the white wall, each telling a tale of a time long past.

Fine couches of gold and white are placed in a circular position around the room on which members of the First Circle are currently seated. At the centre is an opposing gold throne on which Xavier Alexander, Alpha of the Silberburn Pack is seated on regaly.

The Alpha hasn't changed from what Camren remembers.

Xavier is dressed in a fitting black suit that matches his black hair that is slicked back, a daunting scar runs from his forehead to his jaw but it doesn't affect his handsome features. Sharp jawline, straight nose, high cheekbones and golden eyes that are locked onto him like a predator watching prey.

Camren's eyes don't stay on him for long, eyes widening as he locks eyes with the scared glowing Amber eyes of his younger sisters.

It's hard to tell the girls apart, but Camren recognizes Grace from Hope immediately, they are trying to be brave, but the fear is visible in their eyes.

"Camren Moon, bow before your Alpha." An annoyed vocie snaps him out of his trance.

He notices the way Xavier's jaw ticks in annoyance. Holding eye contact with an Alpha was seen as a challenge.

"I am sorry." Camren bows, he doesn't take this man as his Alpha, but he will swallow his pride if it keeps a roof over the head of his family.

"Camren Moon, do you know why you were summoned?" Dumb question. Camren could have rolled his eyes. How was he supposed to know?

"No, Alpha." Camren keeps his voice steady. He feels unsettled being watched by so many powerful people, the intimidation is quiet heavy.

Alicia has finally shaken off the Alpha Submission but she still remains kneeling, worry coursing through her veins.

"You have been chosen for a special task." The Zeta's voice rings like a melody, her silver eyes glowing and her purple hair much like her daughter's trail so long it almost touched the floor.

"Special task?" Camren had been expecting a charge for an accusation, but now he is startled. What is the meaning of this? Choosing the Pack's disgrace for a task was suspicious.

"Have you heard about the Blood War?"' Alpha Xavier's voice is powerful and confident.

"Every Werewolf had heard about the Blood War it's a tale that has been told to us since we were children." The details of the Blood War had been told to the extent that Camren almost felt as if he had been there.

"Yes. Indeed every Werewolf had been told of this story. A dark time of bloodshed and pain, when the Vampires oppressed us." Wasn't it still the same? Aren't the Vampires still oppressing us? Camren wanted to ask, but decided it would be wiser not to interrupt the Alpha, besides he was confused about were all this was going.

"Years later 'peace' reigned, the Werwolves and Vampires stopped fighting. But there is a part of this tale that was never told, a dark secret about the 'peace' we enjoy." This was the part. Camren noticed how everyone tensed as the Alpha spoke.

"Have you heard of Blood Slaves Camren?" The Luna was a gorgeous woman, her form poised and regal and her Lilac coloured eyes shone with wisdom and intelligence, yet her question stunned Camren.

"In the books I read, the Vampires used to take Blood Slaves, vessels that they fed from." The details about Blood Slaves had been more gory, but Camren did not go into details. Were was this going?

"The war didn't stop just because the Werewolves surrendered, it didn't stop because we accepted the Vampires as our rulers. It stopped because we agreed to become prey." Alpha Xavier's voice hardened. "Each year five Werwolves are taken from Pack's chosen by the Council to become Blood Slaves for the Vampire Houses."

"What?" Camren's blue eyes widened. How could they? Every year, they just sent innocent souls to die just so that they could keep their version of 'peace'.

"It's is our turn to offer Blood Slaves as mandated by the Council." Alpha Xavier continued without waiting for his shock to pass. "Camren Moon it has been decided that you will be sent with four other Werewolves to serve House Bloodthorne as a Blood Slave."

"Congratulations." Theta Adam smirked darkly. "Chosen one."
