It was nighttime, and the whole family had gathered for dinner. The table was filled with delicious food, and conversations flowed naturally. Harry, however, had something important on his mind.
He decided this was the right time to bring it up.
"Dad, I want to talk to you about something," Harry said, looking at his father, Anthony.
"Not now," Anthony replied, cutting a piece of steak. "Let's finish dinner first, and then we'll talk."
"Alright," Harry said simply and continued eating.
After dinner, his brothers went to their respective rooms, leaving only Anthony, Sarah (his mother), and Harry in the living room.
"Dad, I've written a book, and I need your help publishing it," Harry said, handing over his manuscript.
Anthony didn't say a word. He simply took the papers and started reading, while Sarah leaned in to read alongside him.
As they flipped through the pages, their expressions changed from curiosity to admiration.
"This is incredible, Harry," Anthony finally said, his voice filled with appreciation.
His mother smiled warmly. "You really have a gift."
"So, will you help me?" Harry asked, not too surprised by their reaction.
Anthony set the papers down and looked at his son. "I'll be honest with you, Harry. Our family business is in real estate, not publishing. We don't have any direct connections to the literary world."
Harry nodded. "I understand."
"But," Anthony continued, "I'll find a publishing company that will give you the best deal possible."
Before Harry could respond, a thought crossed his mind. "Oh, right! Angelina told me her family owns a multimedia company, and she said she could help me publish the book through them."
"Angelina's father, Ryan Smith?" Anthony asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah."
Anthony nodded. "That might be a good opportunity. I'll talk to him and see what we can do."
"I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow," he added.
"Alright, Dad," Harry said, feeling relieved.
Sarah clapped her hands lightly. "That's enough business talk for tonight. It's late—time for bed."
Harry smiled, stood up, and went to his room. As he lay on his bed, thoughts of his future as an author swirled in his mind before he drifted off to sleep.
The Next Day
The next morning, Anthony met with Ryan Smith, Angelina's father and the owner of Smith Multimedia. Their discussion went exceptionally well. Ryan was astonished by Harry's work and offered him an incredible deal:Harry would receive 80% of the total revenue, while Smith Multimedia would take 20%.
That evening, after school, Harry went to his father's office to hear the results.
"Dad, what did Angelina's father say?" Harry asked eagerly.
Anthony smiled. "He was blown away by your work. He agreed to publish your book and offered you 80% of the profits, while his company will take 20%."
"Eighty percent?!" Harry said, eyes wide in surprise. "That much?"
"Of course," Anthony said with a chuckle. "Your work is what he's after. He had no choice but to offer you a fair deal for your masterpiece."
Then Anthony's tone became serious. "He also requested you to become their exclusive author for future projects."
Harry blinked. "What?!"
"Don't worry," Anthony reassured him. "I declined on your behalf. You should have the freedom to choose your own path."
Harry let out a breath of relief.
"Tomorrow, we'll go to sign the contract," Anthony added.
"I'll be ready," Harry said confidently.
The next day, Anthony and Harry arrived at Smith Multimedia Headquarters.
At the entrance, Ryan Smith and Angelina were waiting to greet them.
"So, this is the young genius?" Ryan said with a smile.
"Hello, sir," Harry said, shaking his hand.
"Hello, Harry," Ryan replied.
Angelina grinned. "Hey, Harry!"
"Hey," Harry said back as their fathers exchanged greetings.
"Alright, let's head to my office," Ryan said, leading them inside.
Once seated, Ryan looked at Harry. "So, Harry, what do you think about my offer to work exclusively for my company?"
Harry paused for a moment, carefully choosing his words.
"Sir, I appreciate the offer," he said politely, "but I'd like to keep my options open for the future."
Ryan chuckled. "Smart boy."
Anthony, seeing that the conversation was drifting, stepped in. "Let's focus on the contract, shall we?"
"Of course, of course," Ryan said with a laugh as he handed the contract to Anthony.
Anthony carefully read through the document before passing it to Harry.
"I've gone through it. Everything looks good. Sign it."
Without hesitation, Harry picked up the pen and signed his first publishing deal.
After some casual conversation, Anthony and Harry finally left, marking the beginning of Harry's journey as an author.
