Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [2]

Rhodes did not hesitate at all. He immediately looked at the store and clicked into it. The store's usage was straightforward: players could purchase lottery draws and use them to obtain various monster fragments. Every 10 fragments could be combined to form a complete monster.

At the moment, only the basic lottery was available, which allowed ordinary Earth monsters to be drawn. More powerful monsters such as cosmic monsters, super beasts, negative energy monsters, and dimensional monsters could not be summoned yet—the store needed to be upgraded for that.

This was Rhodes's first time playing the game. Last night, he had briefly tried it out, and now his inventory contained a single starter monster, a basic Earth monster given as a system gift.

It was a Red King, also known as the "Skeleton Monster," commonly referred to as the "Corncob" or "Big Fool Spring"!

Height: 45 meters

Weight: 20,000 tons

Red King possessed immense strength and a massive body, but its small head and large torso made it a classic example of a brawl-over brains monster.

Its roar was particularly unique, and its two large, protruding fangs made it look terrifying. Its massive frame, thick arms, and long tail were all formidable weapons for attacking opponents.

Its appearance resembled that of a primitive dinosaur. Moreover, Red King had an especially domineering title:

The Internal War Phantom God—because when it came to fighting Ultraman warriors, its win rate was practically zero. It had never won a single battle.

However, against its fellow monsters, its record was terrifyingly dominant—it had never lost. Some Red Kings had even taken down Black King and stood their ground against Zetton in direct combat.

It had torn apart the cosmic monster Dorako with its bare hands and scared off the snowy mountain monster. Yet, when fighting Ultraman, it somehow always managed to trip over its own feet while lifting a rock to attack.

Rhodes clearly remembered that when he played the game last night, there were three starter monsters to choose from, and players could pick one for free as their initial monster.

The three starter options were:

The Red King

The ancient monster Gomora

The bird-like volcanic monster Birdon

Under normal circumstances, Rhodes would have chosen the most powerful option—Birdon, the volcanic monster, or Gomora, the ancient beast.

However, Red King was just too comical, and for a starter monster, its melee combat abilities were absolutely solid.

In the early stages of the game, it was an excellent tank. Since other monsters could be obtained later in the game anyway, Rhoes casually chose Red King as his initial monster.

To be honest, if he had another chance to choose, he would pick Birdon, the fierce monster that had defeated both Zoffy and Taro.

Moreover, Birdon had a special damage bonus against insect-type enemies. While the Tyranid swarm was indeed powerful, using Birdon to bully the smaller Tyranid creatures that were only a few meters tall should be no problem, right?

Oh well! Corncob it is! Corncob is still strong, okay?

After all, it was known as the Phantom God of Internal Battles, and against the insect enemies in front of him, Red King would still be quite effective!

It had a significant size advantage, after all.

BOOM! BOOM!

Just then, a series of explosions shook the ground.

A massive Tyranid Warrior Bug appeared.

Space warriors, clad in power armor, immediately charged forward, engaging the Tyranid Warrior Bugs in close combat. Chainswords clashed fiercely against the exoskeletal weapons of the Tyranid swarm.

Dozens of Tyranid Warriors charged forward, engaging the Space Marines in intense melee combat. These massive units were so overwhelming in battle that other allies, such as the Sisters of Battle and Astra Militarum, couldn't even intervene.

When facing a single Tyranid Warrior, a fully armed Space Marine could take it down. However, when confronted by a large swarm, even the Space Marines began to suffer casualties.

One Space Marine was surrounded and attacked by three Tyranid Warriors. Two of them restrained him, while the third drove its massive blade through the chest of the Space Marine.

The power armor made of ceramite was utterly defenseless against the hardened biological weapons of the Tyranid Warriors.

The other two Tyranid Warriors immediately exerted their strength, grabbing the Space Marine's arms and tearing him apart in two.

After killing the Marine, the Tyranid Warriors let out deafening roars of excitement. The situation on the battlefield was grim, with multiple Space Marines either gravely injured or slain.

The number of Astra Militarum soldiers and Sisters of Battle was also dwindling. They were gradually pushed back to high ground, and some Tyranids had already begun advancing toward the boulder where Rhodes was hiding.

Without any hesitation, Rhoes immediately opened the virtual screen that only he could see and clicked the button to summon the skeletal monster, the Corn Monster: Red King.

"If I can summon it, I'll feast like a king. If not, I might as well explode in some bug's stomach later," Rhodes thought with a mix of apprehension and determination.

With a hint of nervousness, he looked ahead. A flash of earth-yellow light appeared, and a colossal beast stepped onto the battlefield. It was 45 meters tall, weighed 20,000 tons, and was overwhelmingly massive.

The monster was entirely earth-yellow in color. Its head was only the size of a fist, but its body was incomparably strong, with a gigantic tail, thick legs, and muscular arms.

"Wah! Wah! Wah!" The Red King let out an excited roar as soon as it appeared, crushing a massive group of Tyranids underfoot.

Rhodes was ecstatic—it worked! He had successfully summoned the monster from his game system into the real battlefield.

As soon as the Red King appeared, Rhodes immediately established a telepathic bond with it, allowing him to control the powerful Earth Beast at will.

"Alright! Red King, attack those bugs and wipe them all out!" Rhodes ordered, his excitement reaching its peak.

"Wah! Wah! Wah!" Letting out another excited roar, the Red King swung its massive tail in a wide arc. In an instant, thousands of Tyranid creatures of varying sizes were sent flying into the air.

Raising its fists, the Red King slammed them into the ground. The entire battlefield shook violently as if struck by an earthquake. Even the surviving Astra Militarum soldiers, Sisters of Battle, and Space Marines struggled to keep their footing.

The resulting shockwave flipped countless Tyranid creatures off their feet. The Red King, now thoroughly exhilarated, mercilessly slaughtered the Tyranids in front of it. The Tyranid swarm quickly redirected their attention to this sudden, massive intruder on the battlefield.

This colossal beast instantly became the center of attention, the brightest star on the battlefield.

All the surviving humans quickly retreated, watching in awe as the Red King battled the Tyranid swarm.
