CHAPTER 44: Killed with a sneeze

Ray after tasting all the street delicacies in the inner city returned to the hotel room with his stomach full.

He then slept soundly for the night while anticipating the tomorrow.

Ryan watched his father and his brother's boarding the ships and preparing for depart.

He knew once his father departs, he has all the responsibility of protecting his family and villagers in the market until he returns back again.

Chief: "I will leave the matter of protecting the others to you, Ryan. After three days, the city might become chaotic, and we will leave the city immediately to fulfill the mercenary task."

"We won't be able to help you if someone makes things difficult for you after our departure. As a last option, go to Ray; he will help you." He advised.

"Yes father," Ryan accepted his father's advice.

In few minutes as everyone boarded the ship chief heavily tapped his shoulders and left.

Ryan watched as his father and brothers sailed away until they disappeared from sight. He then returned to his camp and arranged for other warriors to maintain vigilance.

----------- Perspective of chief---------

After encouraging Ryan, the chief boarded the ship and set sail.

They traveled for at least 10 miles from the city and reached a small stronghold where there were small bandits used to live which were cleared by the mercenary units and the stronghold became ownerless, where they will hide the ships.

After hiding the ships in between the broken ships parked at the hideout, The chief then started handing the makeup he has cooked through the alchemy and asked everyone to apply as he instructed.

After the villagers has applied the makeup, they have changed the attire and divided into 10 small groups and started their return journey.

As they neared the city, each group said their goodbyes and further divided their paths according to gate they are going to enter the city and calmly entered the city after paying the entry fee.

As there will be lot of people entering and leaving the city no one doubted the entry of few extra men.

They then choose different hotels to stay and wait for the signal to attack the gang.

Ray and Lily woke up in their hotel rooms the next morning after a good night's sleep, freshened up, and went outside to enjoy a nice breakfast. 

Then they left for the outer city where their boat was parked. They entered the hangar and began feeding Goldie spirit fruits, playing with her for a few minutes. They instructed her to protect the boat for a few more days, promising to take her outside to play soon.

After entering the inner city, Ray and Lily visited the clothes store again and bought a few more sets of clothes and robes for Lily and Ruby.

As an advance payment, they deposited 1000 low-grade spirit coins in the store, prompting the chief designer to come and take their order.

The chief designer was a middle-aged woman in forties who kindly selected few designs for them and gave them a receipt and asked them to collect the order in a month.

As the clothes are not top-grade defense garments with arrays like automatic defense, they will still use high-end silk with small arrays such as auto-cleaning and auto-repair. Therefore, it will take one month for the delivery of the goods.

As they were exiting the clothes shop a gloomy looking middle-aged man entered the clothes shop and passed by the side of Lily.

Lily immediately frowned with disgust and shifted to Ray's other side and started walking again normally.

Ray didn't think much and thought it was Lily feeling uncomfortable with unknown men who has come close to her as the exit of the door of the shop is narrow.

Ray allowed her to walk his other side and apologized to the middle-aged man saying she isn't used to unknow men near her and walked away with Lily.

What Ray didn't observe was the middle-aged man soon exited the shop with a new robe on his body and started following them.

While following them his eyes were entirely on Lily, he then took a compass from his body and put a middle grade spirit stone into it and recited a spell.

The compass started rapidly absorbing the spirit energy silently and the needle of the compass began rotating fast and slowly stopped and pointed towards Lily.

the middle-aged man has smile on his face and said, " female yin dao body."

He silently left after confirming his doubts and reached his home and called his disciples and instructed them to investigate Ray and lily background and find out the place they are living by the evening.

In the afternoon his disciples came back tiredly and informed him of the details about Ray and lily details and their activities they have performed from the time they entered the city and their current residence.

The middle-aged man thought for a moment and instructed them to keep an eye on the female and inform him when she is alone.

After the disciples left the room, he activated the silence array and started laughing wildly. "I never thought I will see yin body in my lifetime, if I can kill her and get her blood then I can reach foundation realm immediately after sacrificing it."

That day evening he was informed by the disciples they saw the girl roaming the city with a small child.

The middle-aged man followed them all evening. When Lily took Jay to his home, the man appeared and sprayed sleeping powder on her, fantasizing about his future after kidnapping her and leaving the city. While lost in his thoughts, he heard a small sneeze, which was the last thing he heard before his consciousness faded into darkness, never to wake up again.

***Lily's perspective***

Ray mentioned that he was planning to visit the administrative building in the evening to check if any houses were available for rent. However, as they were getting ready to leave, Jay arrived at their hotel to play with them.

Ray let them play and went to do the work alone.

While she enjoyed roaming the streets with Jay and buying everything they wanted to eat, after some time Jay said he needed to go back home as his mother would start teaching him about cultivation and other stuff, so she decided to take him back.

Then Lily suddenly saw a creep appear before them and start spraying something onto her face, which made her sneeze directly onto him, the small sneeze of her started freezing him into a popsicle.

Lily watched as the creep froze into a popsicle with a weird laugh on his face. She noticed Jay lying behind her, asleep, so she picked him up and left the place in disgust. She traced her steps back to the hotel room, laid Jay in her room, and waited for Ray to return to inform him of the incident.
