Chapter 41: Enough is Enough

My fingers won’t stop tingling. I haven’t moved a muscle, so I know I must look relaxed as hell, but my insides are screaming.

“I’m sorry,” I say, my tongue a little too thick in my mouth. “What?”

“We need to project you backwards through time to meet this man.”

“Yeah, I heard you, I just…”

How is everyone so fucking calm about this?

My eyes immediately seek out Thomas. Just to make sure I’m not the crazy one in the room. When I glimpse his face, it’s obvious he finds this whole thing as batshit as I do.

“Wait a second.” A dark fear in the back of my brain leaps to the front, and I snap my attention back to the old woman in front of me. “Did you say I was cursed?” She answers with a simple, grim nod and the room spins. I’m sitting down, but I could tip over at any moment. Leaning forward, I brace my hands on the floor and focus on my breathing to keep from passing out.
