Chapter 101: Round Table Revelations

Emily

Azriel and Leander are already in the dining room when we walk in, sitting at the table side by side as if they never had centuries of beef between them. It’s not that I think the truce isn’t hard won, but it makes me smile all the same. It’s also a bit of a relief to see that Serena, Brey, and the boys aren’t hanging around to shoot my sister and me dirty looks.

“Good morning,” I say, hugging Azriel over the chair and kissing his temple. “What’s on the menu?”

“Black coffee,” Az says, tilting his cup where I can see it. “Same as ever.”

“Smells great.” I kiss him again and head for the coffee pot.

“There’s a ham and egg quiche in the oven,” Leander volunteers, pointing loosely towards the kitchen with his fork. I meet him with a teasing grin.

“Don’t tell me you’re a chef?”

“Eh.” He shrugs with his palms up, clearly proud. “I do what I can.”
