Chapter 10: Madison

I should have stopped searching. They said curiosity killed the cat, and I was one hell of a dead kitten after what I’d just found. 

I rushed to the toilet and threw up everything I’d eaten out of sheer disgust with myself. How could I have known that Mr. Muffins was a married man all along?

I didn’t remember seeing a wedding band on his finger, nor could I recall if I’d even thought to check.

But why didn’t he say anything? Why did he kiss me? Maybe he didn’t want to embarrass me? 

How had I ended up reading it so very wrong? I could’ve sworn he’d been flirting with me in the café earlier.

I pulled out my phone and stared at the picture from Facebook of Gerald with his wife and their four-year-old kid. I let out another groan, covering my face with my sheets. 

Urg, this is humiliating…
