Chapter 66: Noah

My fingers trembled and the air refused to flow into my lungs. “You’re… pregnant?” The words stumbled out of my mouth as the walls seemed to move, swirling around me as Madison gave a small nod. Her eyes were big, like she was just as surprised as I was.

It didn’t make any sense. How could this happen? When? Question upon question zoomed through my head as I stared at her in a complete daze. It was like I was stuck in a nightmare, waiting for someone to shake me awake. 

“But we’re always together,” I heard myself say, trying to make sense of things. “How did you find time for someone else?”

Madison’s mouth moved, but her words were lost under the loud thumping in my ears. My heart was like a drum, beating fast and hard. I felt so many things—as if someone had mixed up all my feelings into one big, messy pile. Betrayal, confusion, it was all there.

Who was the father? Was it Killian? 

He’s the only person she’s been seeing that I know of, I reasoned to myself.
