I should have known better.
As much as I prayed that he would believe me, I should have known better. After grabbing a cab to get away from the wealthy neighborhood that Noah lived in, I headed for the city park. I couldn’t tell how long I had walked since being dropped off there. Walking was all I could seem to manage through the endless tears and heartache. The city’s heartbeat was in my ears, a constant hum of cars and voices. Then much to my luck, out of nowhere, thunder cracked and the sky opened as rain poured down upon everything around.
Including me. I couldn’t help but laugh. “Perfect timing,” I scoffed as the rain started to soak through my clothes.
What more was I to expect after the shitty day I ended up having.
Regardless of the people dashing past me to escape the sudden downpour, I just kept walking. Lost in my stormy thoughts as I replayed my entire conversation with Noah in my head. Along with every cruel word he’d said to me.
