Chapter 9 from Noah’s POV
The second day was just about over and I still hadn’t found a nanny. One middle-aged woman had even run out of my office earlier, crying so much she couldn’t find her way to the elevators without Candice’s help.
Joe had been sitting with me the entire time, asking his own questions—sending reprimanding looks when he thought I was being too cold with people.
“That was the tenth perfect candidate right there,” Joe said, gesturing toward the door through which the blonde with the judgmental frown had just left.
“She looked like she regretted applying minutes after I started the interview,” I shot back, shaking my head. As if I’d hire a woman who looked at me like I was the problem.
Joe threw his hands up in resignation, his smile tired and sarcastic. “Even I thought you were going to maul her, bro,” he said, shaking his head as he let out a disbelieving huff of laughter.
