Chapter 5

Adrian didn't respond, only opening his phone to look at his chat with Aria.

He had promised her he'd be home early tonight, but it was already nine o'clock, and she hadn't sent a single message asking about him.

Feeling inexplicably uneasy, he irritably pushed Felicity away and got up to put on his coat.

"Not tonight, I promised her I'd go home."

As he was leaving, Felicity called out to him.

"Adrian, when are you going to divorce Aria?"

Adrian paused in his steps but didn't turn around.

Her smile froze on her face:

"You're not having second thoughts about the divorce, are you? Didn't we agree we'd be together when I came back?"

That's right, it had all been planned out long ago.

But why was he feeling some resistance now?

Adrian discreetly clenched his fist, but didn't relent:

"We'll see. Aria's not doing well lately."

As he closed the door, he heard Felicity screaming hysterically:

"Adrian, you've regret it, haven't you! You've actually fallen in love with Aria, haven't you!"

He felt a pang in his heart but didn't dare to dwell on it.

The car sped home, and Adrian looked at the dark balcony, thinking Aria must have gone to bed.

The housekeeper Mrs.Winters turned on a lamp and came out to greet him.

Adrian handed over his coat and casually asked, "Has the missus gone to bed already?"

Mrs. Winters replied with surprise, stumbling over her words. "No, sir. The missus messaged me this morning to come back later tonight. When I arrived, no one was home. I assumed you and the missus had other plans."

Adrian's heart skipped a beat as he listened, his eyes growing darker.

He hastily dialed Aria's number, gripping the phone tightly as his face grew increasingly grim.

He waited a few seconds, only to be met with the mechanical voice informing him the phone was switched off.

As he quickly made his way upstairs, he called his assistant.

"Xavion, I need you to check all of the missus's call records right now. Check her documents, see if there are any border crossing records."

Adrian's voice was unprecedentedly calm, though the murderous aura around him grew heavier.

There weren't many places Aria could go, given that she couldn't see. Where could she possibly run off to?

As this thought crossed his mind, an impossible idea gradually surfaced.

"Also, check the hospital's diagnostic records. I want all her recent follow-up results. Go now!"Recently, Aria had been going to her follow-up appointments alone. He'd only seen the test results she brought back.

He always thought she couldn't see, so he wasn't afraid of Aria noticing anything.

But what if she had regained her sight?

Adrian felt a splitting headache as he forcefully pushed open the bedroom door.

With trembling hands, he turned on the light, only to discover that the photo of the two of them on the nightstand was gone.

Not only that, but Aria's clothes were missing, her toiletries were gone, and even their wedding photo hanging in the living room had disappeared.

He collapsed onto the floor in despair, catching sight of some papers on the coffee table out of the corner of his eye.

The words "Divorce Agreement" in large letters met his gaze, with her signature already on the last page.

For a moment, he felt as if his blood had frozen.

His heart clenched painfully, and at that moment, Xavion called back:

[Mr. Channing, Miss Felicity has been sending a lot of messages to your wife lately.]

Opening the file, he saw countless provocative messages from Felicity, while Aria had never replied.

Suddenly, he saw a line of text.

He was furious, feeling as if he'd been stabbed.

It turned out Aria hadn't lost her sight in the fire; Felicity had done something to cause it!Harming Aria by preventing her from going abroad wasn't enough; Felicity had such a cruel heart.

He felt an unexpected pain in his chest, as if suddenly struck by a heavy object.
