32 - Entanglement

"Hm..."

Selene's brows furrowed, eyes narrowing in sharp thought, as though trying to decipher a paradox only she could see. For a moment, I believed she was seriously considering the best answer to the maddening phenomenon we'd both witnessed.

"I still have got no idea."

Oh, you've got to be f*cking kidding me.

No no no, she's actually messing with me right now. What the actual f*ck, Selene!?

"Be honest, Selene. Seriously. What is holding you back from telling me?"

She leaned in all of a sudden, our proximity collapsing into a breath.

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"Do you know how difficult it is to control the Void Rifter?"

Oh, so she'd thought two steps ahead—as usual.

"I couldn't care less," I snapped. "Just explain it to me now."

"Fair enough," she said, like someone conceding a game she'd already won.
