Chapter 6

"Ah! Why is there blood!"

The son was suddenly frightened, standing still in shock. His round, wide eyes reminded me of when he was little and had made a mistake, looking just as terrified as he did now.

The neighbor's door swung open, and Timmy rushed over to check my wound, crying out loudly to my son:

"I told you auntie got cut! My dad cut her! Why didn't you believe me?"

"I... I..."

My son couldn't get a word out, and my husband looked equally stunned. He hurried over, took my arm, and rushed me to the hospital to get bandaged up.

"How could you be so careless? It's lucky the wound isn't deep, or you might have lost your shoulder," the nurse scolded me reproachfully.

I shrugged nonchalantly and replied cheerfully, "What can you do? My husband and son didn't believe me. They thought I was joking, so they weren't gentle at all."
