As Lana rushed into the entrance of the Blackstone industries building, she didn't notice the tall imposing figure standing in front of her . She bumped into him,her purse spilling its content onto the floor .
"Oh no, I'm so sorry !" Lana exclaimed ,as she bent down to pick up her belongings.
The man's eyes narrowed, as he gazed down at her ,his piercing blue eyes taking in every detail of her features. Lana felt a shiver run down her spine as their eyes met, and for a moment, they just stared at each other .
Lana was striked by the chiseled planes of his face, the sharp jawline and the piercing eyes that seem to bore into her soul. He was handsome, but there was something cold and unyielding about him that made her feel uneasy.
The man's gaze swept over her,his eyes lingering on her curves before returning to her face. Lana felt a flush rise to her cheeks as he seemed to undress her with his eyes.
"You should watch were you're going",he said finally ,his deep voice dripping with disdain .
Lana's eyes flashed with anger. "Oh, I'm sorry, Your Highness", she snapped, her voice heavy with sarcasm. "I didn't realize the sidewalk was reserved exclusively for your majesty's feet".
The man's eyes narrowed ,his face cold and unyielding . "You'd do well to show some respect",he growled.
Lana rolled her eyes. "Respect? You want respect? You're the one who's being rude and condescending. I'm just trying to apologize and you're acting like a total jerk ."
The man's face turned even colder, but Lana didn't back down . She stood her ground, her eyes flashing with anger.
Finally, she turned and stormed off, leaving the man standing alone on the sidewalk.
Little did she know, their encounter was only just the beginning.
Later, when Lana arrived at the office, she was greeted by the same man she had bumped into earlier. This time,he was sitting behind a massive desk,a cold smile spreading across his face.
"Welcome Lana",he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm .
Lana's eyes widened in shock as she realized who the man was. "You're... you're Ethan Blackwood," she stuttered.
Ethan nodded, his eyes glittening with amusement. "The one and only,"he said. "And you, Lana , are the candidate I'll be interviewing today ".
Lana's face went pale as she realized her mistake . She had just shouted at her potential boss, and now she was going to have to face the consequences.
"Well, well, well," Ethan said, his deep voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look what we have here. The feisty little candidate who thinks she can take on the world."
Lana's eyes flashed with anger, but she bit back her retort. She knew she had to keep her cool if she wanted to get the job.
"I'm sorry,Mr Blackwood", she said, her voice stiff."I didn't realize who you were earlier ".
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Save it,Lana,"he said. "I'm not interested in apologies. What I'm interested in is seeing whether you have what it takes to work for me."
Ethan leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Lana's face. "So let's get down to business,"he said, his voice cold and detached. "Tell me, Lana, why do you think you're qualified to work for me?"
Lana took a deep breath and launched into a confident and articulate speech about her skills. Ethan listening intently, his expression unreadable.
Ethan's expression remained uh unreadable as he leaned back in his chair. "You'll do", he said finally, his voice devoid of emotion.
Lana's eyes sparkled with excitement, but Ethan next words crushed her enthusiasm.
"Don't think for a moment, that this means you're special, Lana",he said, his eyes glinting with coldness. "You're just a means to an end. A tool for me to use and discard when I'm done with you."
Lana's face turned red with anger but maintained to keep her cool, but Ethan didn't seem to notice . He stood up,his movement economical and precise.
"My secretary,Rose, will show you to your new office,"he said, his voice dripping with disdain."Don't disappoint me,Lana. I don't tolerate failure."
With that,he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Lana feeling stunned and intimidated.
