Master Ancient One 's speech was not particularly passionate or impressive, yet it managed to excite all the students.
They had come to Kamar-Taj not to listen to speeches, but to acquire more magical knowledge!
Naturally, such speeches were as short as possible. Although the speaker was a formidable figure like Master Ancient One , even he understood the importance of brevity.
The students knew they couldn't attract Master Ancient One 's attention, but they hoped their team leader would be a more engaging figure.
They never doubted the abilities of Kamar-Taj's magicians. After all, even the person who received them had mastered terrifying space magic. So, what about their teacher?
The dream-filled freshmen were soon taken to another location.
This place felt strange to them, as they had to pass through a space gate to reach it!
At that moment, they realized: were they going to live here in the future?
"The real space of Kamar-Taj isn't enough," said the leader, his deep voice seemingly addressing their unspoken thoughts.
Like Master Ancient One , his voice was low but carried clearly to every student.
This caught all the freshmen's attention. After all, this was going to be their future home, so paying attention now would be wise.
"We've used some special methods to create this mirror space. It's a magic you'll definitely learn in the future, but I won't explain it in detail now. Your teacher will do that."
"This will be your dormitory from now on. For convenience, we've borrowed some features from Hogwarts and Ilvermorny and combined them into a new college. This is just your dormitory area—you may or may not study here."
The teacher in charge explained, and the freshmen nodded in understanding, though inwardly they were amazed.
Kamar-Taj, indeed, wasn't vast. They had expected to see common space-overlapping magic, but it seemed the magicians here didn't even consider using such methods.
Instead, they had chosen the simplest and most straightforward approach—carving out a mirror space as their dormitory!
This was truly the style of the magical holy land.
Maintaining a mirror space doesn't consume much magic power for a short period, but if sustained for long, it becomes power-intensive.
The teacher who led them had clarified that the mirror space was sustained by a special magic circle. Still, the concept was awe-inspiring, especially for students who had never encountered such magic before.
"Wow, this place looks no different from Hogwarts."
When Evan and his friends found their assigned dormitories, they were surprised to see that it resembled the school they had spent the last seven years at.
Except for the unfamiliar faces of people and teachers, everything seemed quite comfortable.
The dorms were still shared by four people per room. Evan, Kate, and Lance, the three Ravenclaw students, naturally chose to room together.
That left Ernie with an empty spot. Katniss, Longbottom, and the Weasley brothers shared another room.
The only ones who felt somewhat dissatisfied were Ernie and Angelina, who were placed in the girls' dormitory.
The most uncomfortable part was that they didn't know any of their dormmates.
It was a bit disheartening, but fortunately, they were all social people, so it wasn't too concerning.
After settling in and familiarizing themselves with the environment, they gathered and headed to the lobby.
The teacher who had escorted them mentioned that their magic teacher would arrive soon to claim them. They had to arrive early, or else they'd be in trouble in Kamar-Taj.
No one wanted to be the unlucky student who missed their teacher's arrival. If that happened, they might not get any answers to their future questions.
"Luckily, the design here is somewhat similar to Hogwarts, or we'd never be able to find it easily," Kate remarked as they entered the lobby.
Once inside, they were relieved to see the room already filled with students. Many had skipped their dormitories and were waiting in the lobby.
Looking around, they found seats. Although the space was large, it would've been uncomfortable if there hadn't been any available seating.
"Do you think there will be a Room of Requirement here, like at Hogwarts?" George Weasley asked, breaking the silence.
"Who knows? I'm more curious about what kind of person our team leader will be," Kate said, resting her chin on her hand.
Though the Room of Requirement would be useful, Kate's thoughts turned to whether the magic knowledge of Kamar-Taj would even be available there. After all, they had already tried something similar at Hogwarts without success.
"Actually, I wonder if Noah will be our team leader," Evan remarked, even though he was still young and thin. It had to be said that Evan was growing more handsome as time passed.
"I don't think so. Although he's strong, he's only 18—our age. Many people here are older than us," Hermione said, shaking her head. She didn't think it was likely.
"Don't forget, the magician who received us said that age isn't a problem, and Noah is a master here," Lance replied nonchalantly.
"Honestly, I think it's impossible. Noah is still a student here, and I don't think he'd want to be a teacher. We all know how much he loves learning," Ernie added. "And besides, being a teacher is a lot of work. He'd probably refuse right away."
Thinking it over, they all agreed that Ernie had a point.
Noah had always been ahead of everyone else at Hogwarts, yet he seemed particularly fond of money.
According to Constantine, the main reason Noah joined the American mission was that a woman named Angela had offered him $20,000!
Angelina also mentioned that when Noah went to Budapest, he joined the operation because the Ministry of Magic had given him money.
"Damn, the tuition here is expensive. I bet this was Noah's idea," they suddenly realized.
Indeed, the tuition at Kamar-Taj wasn't cheap. Kamar-Taj University wasn't a charity project, though it was a little unfriendly to students from poorer families.
However, there were ways to resolve this. After some negotiations, the school where the students were enrolled would provide help. Even the local Ministry of Magic would offer assistance.
The important caveat was that the students could not be made to do anything embarrassing after graduation due to this aid.
Since the teacher hadn't arrived yet, no one was paying attention to the students. Most were chatting with others, both familiar and unfamiliar faces. The students from Hogwarts did the same but eventually stopped talking.
When all the students had gathered, the staff entered, distributing number cards.
Once the cards were handed out, teachers began calling the numbers one by one, with the students following their assigned groups of three.
An hour passed, and fewer and fewer people remained in the hall.
Angelina and the Weasley brothers formed a team and were called out. Katniss, not particularly familiar with Noah but a Slytherin who joined the Mage Alliance early, ended up with a pair of Ilvermorny students and left.
Gradually, the hall emptied, and only a few students remained seated in confusion. Coincidentally, they were all from Hogwarts.
"Hey, have we been forgotten?" Kate said, her mouth twitching.
The remaining students were the three Ravenclaws, Ernie, and two Gryffindors—Hermione and Longbottom.
There were exactly two teams, yet no one had come to claim them, making them feel abandoned.
"Maybe the teacher assigned to us is just busy?" Hermione suggested uncertainly. The situation felt increasingly uncomfortable.
"God knows. I just hope our teachers are reliable. My expectations are pretty low," Ernie said with a sigh.
Everyone was starting to lose hope.
Meanwhile, in a room outside the mirror space, Noah lay with his eyes closed as if asleep. Mordo, sitting next to him, was helpless, wanting to punch Noah awake.
"Noah, is it almost time? It seems like we're the last two left," Mordo said, glancing at his phone before sighing in frustration.
"Don't worry, buddy," Noah yawned, opening his eyes as if to prove he wasn't asleep.
"Don't stress, look—we're the only ones left to embarrass the students. Wang and the others are already gone!"
"This is to test the students' patience. Believe me, only those with patience will excel," Noah replied, trying to ease his friend's concerns.
"You're just making things harder for the students, aren't you? The teacher asked you to participate, but you don't even intend to stay. Seriously, don't drag me into this," Mordo grumbled.
"Don't worry, I'm just testing their patience. Trust me."
