Feel it yourself?
Feel it!
Evan and the others were too exhausted to pay attention to what Noah said. Of course, they didn't have the energy to focus on it. After a day like that, who could think about distant matters? It was enough to find a place to rest in the dormitory.
This training method took time to adjust to, and after three months, the freshmen had fully adapted. In fact, by the end of the first month, some had even found the energy to visit the library after their regular training. By the second month, more students started doing the same, and by the third month, all students had the stamina to read in the library.
It took Evan and his friends about two months to gain enough energy to visit the library. The Ilvermorny group adapted the quickest. Although Evan and his friends remembered what Noah had said, they had no time to think it through properly.
The Kamar-Taj Library didn't have as many books as Hogwarts, but it certainly offered higher-level materials. After speaking with students who had been accepted into Hogwarts, Evan and the others began to look for the answers Noah had hinted at. To stay on track, they assigned one person each day to search for information while the others continued their regular readings. They also exchanged their findings, often discussing their teachers.
The most troubling topic for Evan and his friends was Noah himself. Once the others learned that Noah was their teacher, they were full of questions.
"How is Noah as a teacher?"
"Is he strict?"
"Has he taught you anything powerful?"
These questions came at them non-stop, leaving Evan and the others unsure how to respond. Should they tell them the truth—that Noah now resembled a demon? Well, he did feel like a demon, especially since he had not only beaten them up before training but also taken their wands during lessons.
"That's how I got here."
Noah's methods were, of course, debatable. However, after hearing him explain, Evan and the others quickly realized Noah wasn't lying. They also noticed Noah had stopped using his wand, prompting them to keep theirs put away as well.
Their experience wasn't unique. After speaking with other freshmen, they discovered that all of them had been disarmed. Magic was now practiced solely with their own abilities; wands and other tools were forbidden.
They could accept this, as they weren't the only ones affected. After some complaints to their friends who had been admitted with them, they felt better, though they knew complaining wouldn't change anything.
Everything shifted when Hermione stumbled upon a book titled "On the Relationship Between Physical Fitness and Magic". Suddenly, all complaints vanished, and Evan and the others realized Noah hadn't been deceiving them. They persevered.
Eventually, the freshmen began to understand what it meant to get beaten up regularly. Once they were used to the high-intensity training, real combat drills began. The teachers demonstrated for the freshmen, and they saw Kamar-Taj magicians split into pairs and battle each other using only their fists.
Though this seemed exciting, the freshmen were surprised—these were magicians, not warriors! In addition to the hand-to-hand combat, there were also magical duels, which they were familiar with. But when they saw Noah, around their age, control fire and frost to defeat an opponent, they realized just how skilled the Kamar-Taj magicians were.
Even the magician Noah defeated used space magic to reverse everything in the mirror space. But Noah, also skilled in space magic, was unaffected. He located the hidden opponent and swiftly defeated him.
"Too powerful. He's truly a Kamar-Taj magician!"
"I think this Noah Finniel is incredible! He's our age, and he's been here for four years. That's terrifying!"
"It's amazing he created the meditation technique we use."
"It's a shame he's from Hogwarts. If he were at our school, life would be so much easier."
Evan and the others heard these conversations often. They wanted to complain, but honestly, they knew it was pointless. Besides, Noah wasn't exactly easy on them either.
Once the teachers finished their battles, it was time for the students to fight. Choosing opponents was mostly a matter of luck. Boys and girls were separated and randomly paired. Kate was unfortunate enough to face a strong opponent, while Evan got a thinner opponent than himself. The result? Those who were beaten had lumps on their heads, and those who weren't beat others in the same way.
Without magic, Evan and his team performed as poorly as Noah had when he first arrived—if not worse. But when magic was allowed, their performance excelled, crushing all the other freshmen! The teachers, initially surprised, later learned that Noah had been their instructor and that they had graduated from Hogwarts. Then it all made sense.
The teachers felt it, but the students felt it even more. How were these Hogwarts students so skilled at magical combat? Could it be that they spent all their time in the Hogwarts Dueling Club?
No one answered this question, but the freshmen slowly adjusted to life at Kamar-Taj. The teachers, after all, were human and couldn't keep an eye on them all the time. Even Noah, who would rather train with Mordo and others than guide the newcomers, couldn't ignore his friends for long.
Noah's approach was simple: if they had problems, they could find him. If not, he wouldn't waste his time. But Evan, Kate, and Lance weren't going to let him off the hook that easily.
Noah continued to teach them seriously, no matter the subject.
"Are you really not going to take us anymore?" Evan asked on Christmas Eve, as he sat beside Noah at the orphanage in Westminster, where Noah was lazily watching a video on his phone.
"Still going to take you? Ask Hermione and the others if Mordo is still taking them." Noah rolled his eyes, setting his phone aside and picking up the orange cat lying next to him. He ignored her displeasure as he rubbed her head.
The cat, named Gugu, was still as lazy as ever, but Noah couldn't help but think of her as the representative of the slimming world of orange cats. She didn't look fat at all—except for being a little lazy, she seemed perfectly fine.
Nagini, similarly, rarely turned back into her human form, except when bathing or sleeping. She was still adapting to her snake form, but her magical abilities hadn't changed much.
"If there were any druids in this world, maybe she could use them," Noah mused. But after all, he'd only seen druids in games and novels. He doubted there were any real druids around.
"Mr. Mordo's not with us anymore, but we've adapted," Hermione said as she joined Noah on the sofa. "It's a pity I didn't get you as a team leader earlier."
"I'm sure you would've hated it if I was your team leader," Noah replied with a grin. "I'm not one to treat you any differently."
Kate, holding her phone, commented, "See? This guy made me buy another one."
"You didn't have to buy it," Lance added, teasing Kate about her new colorful phone.
Noah, rubbing Gugu's head, sighed helplessly. "Okay, okay. You're all officially qualified Kamar-Taj magicians now, aren't you?"
"Of course, but it's a shame we only have four years," Hermione sighed.
"Four years isn't enough? I'm thinking of leaving Kamar-Taj after a few years," Noah whispered.
"Leaving Kamar-Taj? Where will you go?" Evan asked, curious.
"Of course I'll go back," Noah replied. "I heard they're replacing the Guardian of the Temple in London."
"Wait, you're going to London to be the Guardian?"
"Well, with teleportation magic and arrays, it's all the same to me."
"That's great news!" Evan said.
