Noah had thought about the idea of becoming a temple guardian again. However, he didn't plan to stay in Nepal for the rest of his life, simply watching the sunrise from Mount Everest whenever he had nothing else to do.
Though Kamar-Taj offered a lot of advantages, Noah had many ideas, and it was only natural for him to aim for a guardian position. In truth, what Noah wanted most was to be the Guardian of the Hong Kong Temple, but Wong seemed to have his eye on that position.
Moreover, the Guardian there had just been replaced, which made Noah realize that he had no chance. As for New York, he had no plans to pursue that path for the time being.
It was better for Doctor Strange to remain in New York. After all, it would take over ten years for him to break his hand in a racing accident before running to Kamar-Taj for help. Despite the situation, as an American who looked like Benedict Cumberbatch, New York still seemed like the best place for him.
"As for 221b Baker Street, let's leave it to Constantine and me as an office, or let Strange go there to pretend to be Sherlock Holmes?" Noah mused.
Returning to the Temple in London as a Guardian seemed to be Noah's best choice. Not only had he been born there in this life, but he was also still a registered magician with the British Ministry of Magic.
What mattered most, though, was that Noah had left too many things behind in the British magical world.
If the Mage Union during the Hogwarts era was a newly laid egg, now it had become a newly hatched eagle. As time went by, this eagle would hopefully become the embodiment of Noah's ideals, though he needed to carefully tend to it.
Of course, this "care" was somewhat redundant. With Dumbledore around, Noah knew that Dumbledore's guidance was far more valuable than his own.
Noah's real purpose was to let the members of the Mage Union know that their boss was back. He knew it sounded childish, but he couldn't help pretending.
And, if all went well, when he returned to garrison, many of the Mage Union members from his class would have entered the Ministry of Magic. He was closest to the ones from his class.
As for those who had joined later, Noah wasn't as familiar with them, although he had heard from Evan and others that they admired him.
The Christmas Eve party passed quickly, and after a lavish dinner, everyone went home. Their vacation wasn't long, and the Christmas break had been specially arranged to accommodate the students.
Otherwise, the real Kamar-Taj magicians wouldn't have celebrated Christmas.
After Noah and Ms. Heifen cleaned up the remnants of the party, it was nearly eleven o'clock. For the first time that day, Ms. Heifen had taken off her yellow monk's robes and changed into normal home clothes. She looked stunning now.
"I must say, you dress just like the elegant, beautiful, and generous Ms. Heifen in my memory," Noah commented with a slight smile as he sat on the sofa.
"Oh? Are you saying I was ugly before?" Ms. Heifen replied with a playful smile, sitting beside him with Gugu in her arms. The orange cat looked content.
"The clothes were ugly, not me," Noah shrugged as he watched her cross her right leg over her left and hold the cat.
"Well, you do wear very little," Noah added after some thought, but Ms. Heifen didn't mind. She then asked, "What are your plans for Christmas? Heading back tomorrow?"
"No, I plan to visit the teachers at Hogwarts tomorrow. After all, I came from there. I'll also see Professor Dumbledore—well, now I should call him the Minister."
"I should visit him. If it weren't for Hogwarts, you might not have become a wizard."
"Hey, dear, if I hadn't become a wizard, you wouldn't have had a chance either, right? Besides, even if I hadn't become a wizard, maybe I could have gone to Cambridge or Oxford."
"Yes, yes, Mr. Noah Finniel is a genius," Ms. Heifen smiled, teasing him, not knowing the truth of Noah's situation. She assumed that what he said was likely true.
However, Noah knew that without the system, he likely wouldn't have become a wizard or been able to attend those universities.
"By the way, I heard you're planning to go back to London in the future?" After a bit of playful banter, Ms. Heifen asked.
"Yes. I heard the Guardian of the London Temple plans to retire soon, so the position will be open. I want to try for it." Noah admitted his plans without hesitation.
"Should I come back with you then?"
"Of course, as long as you're willing. We've both seen the temple. It's such a huge place, and it actually needs quite a lot of magicians. At the very least, ten are needed. If you're willing, I'd love for you to join me."
The temple was massive. It could easily accommodate fifty magicians, let alone just ten.
Noah truly planned to bring more magicians into the fold, as he would likely be traveling around a lot in the future. The temple would need trustworthy individuals to manage it.
Noah had a few ideas about personnel, and Wong seemed like a good choice. Although Wong had always wanted to go to the Hong Kong Temple, it was unclear when he would retire there.
Noah might not retire for another 20 to 30 years, but given that Strange would be the Supreme Sorcerer by then, Wong could serve as a good assistant.
If Strange didn't intend to let Wong leave, it could take at least 20 years.
Considering all this, Noah thought it would be a great idea to bring Wong over to help guard the temple in the future.
Of course, he wasn't rushing. The current Guardian of the London Temple wouldn't retire for a few more years.
After chatting for a while, Noah and Ms. Heifen said goodnight to each other and returned to their rooms.
The following morning, after a peaceful night, Noah woke up early. He had planned to visit his alma mater today.
Initially, he wanted to find a set of school uniforms, but after searching for a while, he realized that he no longer had any.
He had left Hogwarts when he was fourteen, and four years later, as an adult, his school uniform was still the same one from when he was fourteen.
In the end, Noah opted for a black windbreaker, as the weather in London was still quite cold. Though he didn't feel the chill as much, it was the perfect choice for the occasion.
After gathering everything he needed, Noah opened a portal and stepped through, setting the destination to Professor Snape's office. Though there were many places in Hogwarts he could go directly, he was most familiar with Snape's office.
He also considered Professor Flitwick's office, but he thought it would be more fun to surprise Snape than Flitwick.
"Hey? Professor Snape isn't here?"
Noah was surprised to find Snape absent from his office.
Looking around, he noticed the office had changed significantly. The decorations were brighter, and the layout wasn't as dim as he remembered.
"Magic to simulate sunlight? It must have taken a lot of effort," Noah thought, tapping his chin.
Just then, he heard some noise, and the door opened. A man in black entered, accompanied by a little girl who looked around four or five years old.
The man had black hair and looked remarkably elegant. He was smiling at the girl with affection, but when he noticed Noah, a strong magical aura surged from him.
"Who are you?"
"Uh, Professor Snape?" Noah blinked, unsure if his eyes were deceiving him.
When did Snape ever smile like that? And his hair—when did it get so clean and elegant?
"Are you Noah? Noah Finniel?" Snape asked, eyeing him with a frown.
"Yes, it's me. Long time no see, Professor Snape." Noah nodded with a helpless smile.
Snape stared at him for a long moment, unsure whether to believe his eyes.
Noah had changed a lot over the years, but not so much that he was unrecognizable. The magical fluctuations around him, though, made Snape feel as if he were facing Dumbledore!
"I never thought I'd see you at this level so young," Snape muttered, still in disbelief.
"Why are you back?" Snape asked after a pause.
"I haven't been back for so many years. Isn't it right to come back and visit my alma mater now?" Noah shrugged as he took a seat. "How's everything going?"
"It's not bad. Albus has everything under control. Though there are some troublesome things, he has the upper hand," Snape replied, holding his daughter and sitting down.
"Really? And what about you and Lily?"
"We're fine. I plan to let Lily attend a Muggle school for elementary school," Snape said with a slight nod.
