"What are you saying?" I questioned, standing abruptly as I ruffled my hair in frustration. I moved swiftly toward him, dropping the heavy bag I had been holding before continuing, my voice rising slightly, "I didn't kill Manager Hama. I didn't—I never touched him—"
"You never touched him?" he interrupted, his smirk widening. That smirk. It reminded me of everything—every single detail of that night, the night that changed everything. The beginning of my problems.
"I didn't mean it like that," I corrected hastily, already growing frustrated with how this conversation was unfolding. "What I meant was that, yes, I touched him—but I didn't kill him."
His smirk didn't waver. If anything, it deepened. He stood up, his gaze locked onto mine with unsettling amusement.
