Chapter 6

Garett brought me home, taking care of me with utmost gentleness.

Exhausted by facing him, I pretended to be asleep.

He was distracted all day, and as soon as he saw me sleeping, he went straight to his study.

Suddenly, my phone received a text from an unknown number. It was from Josie.

"You've already guessed that the baby in my belly is Garett's, right? Why are you still clinging to him? He doesn't love you anymore. He's been with me on every important holiday. You're surrounded by traces of me everywhere. Your man belongs to me completely now, so leave him. I'll love him more than you ever could."

I let out a cold laugh and turned off my phone. At that moment, the sky was ablaze with brilliant blue fireworks.

It was the blue I once loved the most.

Garett rushed in anxiously, covering my ears. "I was afraid the explosions from the fireworks might startle you."

I pushed his hands away and looked up at the sky full of fireworks. "These blue fireworks are really beautiful."

Garett affectionately stroked my head. "If you like them, I'll have someone set off even bigger and more beautiful ones just for you tomorrow. How does that sound?"

I shook my head. "No need. I don't like using things others have already used. It feels dirty to me."Despite knowing I was referring to fireworks, a flicker of panic crossed Garett's face.

He held me tightly in his arms, "Don't worry, I'll definitely design a one-of-a-kind firework just for you."

In the days that followed, Garett was out early and back late, using work as an excuse.

I didn't question his whereabouts, but Josie's text messages never stopped.

There were glimpses of Garett personally cooking soup for her.

Scenes of Garett playing guitar and singing to her for prenatal education.

Moments of Garett splurging on collectibles just to make her smile.

Each instance flaunting Garett's ardent love for her.

I never replied, pretending I hadn't seen them.

I had more important things to do; I was busy erasing all traces of myself from this home.

On the first day, while Garett was making black chicken soup for Josie, I shredded the nutrition plan he'd handwritten for me.

On the second day, as Garett bought collectibles for Josie, I removed the crescent moon pendant he'd designed for me and sent it to auction. On the third day, Garett and Josie kissed under the moonlight, while I burned all the love letters between us.

On the day of my departure, Garett stood by my bedside, looking exhausted.

"Luna, why did you send the necklace I gave you to auction?" he asked.

I looked at him, my tone indifferent: "I got tired of it. I don't like it anymore."

He lowered his eyelids and put the necklace back around my neck. "Just wear it for now. When I have time, I'll design a different one for you, so you can switch between them. That way, you won't get bored."

As he spoke, my phone received a text message.

Garett asked me, "What was successfully canceled?"

Hearing this, my heart suddenly skipped a beat.
