"You're not convinced? Feel free to check the basement. Then you'll see if I'm telling the truth or not."
Seeing our doubt, Wylie pointed towards the stairs, gesturing for us to go down.
We had been suspicious about the basement for a while now, wanting to investigate.
This was the perfect opportunity to sneak down there and take a look.
"Don't give yourselves away. Whatever you see down there, don't make a sound. Otherwise, you'll be next."
Wylie didn't come with us, just waiting by the door.
"I'm not well. I'd only slow you down. I'll wait here to assist if needed. Just yell if you run into trouble."
Seeing how frail he looked, we had no choice but to proceed, carefully making our way into the basement.
The further in we went, the louder the women's screams became.
"It doesn't sound like just one person. It's like many people screaming together. What on earth is down here?"
Melody gripped my hand tightly, her palm already clammy with cold sweat.
