"Dude, Logan's here."
A hushed voice came from behind him as a student pointed towards the door.
Rex raised his eyebrows and turned to look towards the entrance.
There stood Logan with a bandaged nose, flanked by his lackeys, despite his comical appearance, his expression was anything but humorous. As he seemed particularly aggressive.
The room fell into complete silence as every student turned to watch, their expressions ranging from curiosity to apprehension.
Logan's eyes darted around as if searching for something.
Finally, spotting Rex—who was surrounded by students—a sneer crept on his face, as he swaggered toward him as if he was the main character of this novel.
As he approached, the students instinctively parted to give way.
Reaching Rex's seat, he looked at him condescendingly with his hands folded in front of his chest.
Rex, however, remained completely unfazed. He leaned back leisurely in his chair, meeting Logan's gaze with unbothered ease.
The others also watched with their hearts stuck in their throats. Even though many students hated Logan, they really didn't dare confront him, it was basically academic suicide in their eyes.
The eerie silence was finally broken by Logan.
"Hey, so this is where you've been hiding?"
Rex raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Hiding? Me?" Rex chuckled, then pointed to Logan's head. "Dude, you good up here?"
A few students stifled laughter, but Logan remained unfazed. Instead, his smirk widened.
"Okay! It seems like you aren't a coward. If you really have the guts, follow me. Let's see if your body is as sharp as your mouth."
Hearing this, Rex couldn't contain himself. A sudden burst of laughter escaped his lips.
Everyone exchanged confused glances.
Logan's expression twisted into a frown. He hadn't said anything funny. Why was Rex laughing?
He turned to his lackeys, who also shook their heads not understanding the situation.
After laughing for a while, Rex slowly wiped a tear from the corner of his eye before straightening up.
"Dude, it seems like that punch really did a number on your already dim-witted brain," he said, shaking his head in mock sympathy.
"My advice is to get a thorough checkup from a qualified doctor."
He paused, then added with a grin, "Actually, if you want, I can recommend a top mental specialist. I can't guarantee he'll cure you, but he'll definitely refer you to a reputable mental hospital."
Saying this, he looked at Logan with kind and innocent eyes, as if he was genuinely concerned for his well-being.
Silence hung in the air for a moment.
Then suddenly, the entire class erupted into laughter. Some students laughed loudly, while others tried to suppress their amusement but to no avail.
Logan, on the other hand, was trembling with rage. His jaw clenched, his teeth grinding audibly and his face flushed red.
He pointed a shaking finger at Rex.
"Y-you… You… You're mental, your whole—"
But then, he suddenly stopped.
Rex narrowed his eyes slightly, waiting for him to finish his sentence.
The students also sensed the shift in atmosphere and quieted down, watching with bated breath.
"Y-your… Y-your…" Logan gulped, trying to complete his sentence, but no words came out.
He may have forgotten, but his body still remembered yesterday's incident and the reason he was knocked out.
Even if he refused to admit it, the fear lingered deep in his subconscious.
For proud Logan, this was absolutely unacceptable. That's why, despite being hospitalized, the very next day, he had rushed back to confront Rex.
He wanted to prove to himself that he, Logan, wasn't afraid of anybody.
Seeing that everyone's attention was on him, suddenly, He snapped and slammed his hand onto the desk in front of Rex.
"Y-you… You're the mental one! You are the one who need treatment!"
The sudden outburst startled everyone, their hearts leaping into their throats. As a fight seemed inevitable.
Rex, however, didn't even flinch. And relaxed his narrowed eyes.
At least Logan hadn't said what he shouldn't have.
As for banging the table to intimidate him?
Rex couldn't care less.
He wasn't the type to be bluffed so easily.
With a harsh screech, he pushed his chair back and suddenly stood up.
Logan instinctively flinched, stepping back as a phantom pain from yesterday's punch resurfaced.
Seeing this, Rex sneered.
"Hmph."
He took a slow step forward.
Logan reflexively stepped back again—until he bumped into his lackey, C.
That's when he snapped back to reality.
He remembered that he wasn't alone.
He had specifically brought his "reliable" lackeys with him.
So, hurriedly composing himself, he squared his shoulders and looked into Rex's eyes with renewed confidence—as if it wasn't him who was scared right now.
But were his lackeys really reliable?
Looking at their nervous expressions and fidgeting bodies, it seemed to be telling a different story.
In fact, right now, his lackeys were cursing Logan's eighteenth generation ancestry.
"This bastard didn't tell us he was coming here to provoke him!" were the thoughts of Lackey A.
"If I knew he had gone insane, I wouldn't have followed him! Now this bastard is gonna get us killed too" Lackey B cursed.
"I should've really checked the almanac before coming today." Lackey D regretted his life choices.
"Don't look at me, don't look at me, I'm invisible. No one can see me," Lackey C prayed silently.
Rex smirked.
"Do you think everyone is a fool like you? Why should I follow you? Just because you said so? Who are you to order me around?"
His voice turned sharper.
"If you have the guts, do what you want right here, right now."
Logan's confidence wavered.
He had dared to bring his lackeys to confront Rex, but in reality, he didn't have the courage to fight him head-on, especially in front of everyone.
If he really attacked now, no matter how powerful his family was, they wouldn't be able to save him—not with so many witnesses around.
That's why he wanted to taunt him and lure him to an isolated spot to beat him up. But of course, this plan didn't work, as Rex didn't play his cards according to routine.
Hearing Rex's challenge, Logan's face turned red with embarrassment. Then, grasping at straws, he scoffed.
"Hmph! Do you really think I'm afraid of you? The only reason you won was because of your sneak attack!"
"Oh?"
Rex stroked his chin and nodded, as if he actually agreed.
Seeing this, Logan grew bolder and spoke more and more confidently.
"Yeah! If it was a fair fight, the one lying in bed would be you!"
But just as his confidence peaked, Rex's voice cut through his delusion.
"Okay. Let's fight. A fair and square fight, just like you said."
Silence.
Logan's bravado came to a screeching halt.
Rex's body had been enhanced by the system. Even though his stats seemed average, his control over his body wasn't something Logan could rival, as it was far beyond ordinary people.
And Logan had already experienced it firsthand.
The punch yesterday was just an ordinary one, even though he was really itching to beat him up, he didn't expect him to get knocked out with just one simple punch, and that wasn't even his full strength!
That's why he confidently challenged him to the fight
The students' eyes lit up in excitement. They turned toward Logan, as if silently urging him to accept the offer.
But Logan didn't dare to meet the other students' eyes.
He wasn't stupid.
He knew that if he really fought one-on-one, the only one getting hurt would be him.
So, looking straight at Rex, he scoffed and started spewing nonsense,
"Hmph! We live in a civilized society. Only a barbarian like you would fight with others."
Then, with a smug smirk, he continued,
"Boy! Don't be happy so soon, Enjoy the days you have left. I've told my uncle everything, and do you know who my uncle is? He is Clement Whitmore, your professor, So, get ready to receive the expulsion letter soon."
Silence.
The students looked at Logan as if he was a complete fool.
"Uh… does he not know his uncle already knows?"
"Yeah, his uncle was the one who took him to the hospital."
"Even his uncle didn't dare mess with Rex. Where's his confidence coming from?"
"Who knows? It seems like, because he was absent, he didn't know anything or hear the rumors going around the university."
"Yeah, if he knew that, he definitely wouldn't be standing here acting so arrogantly."
Just as Rex was about to respond—
The classroom door suddenly swung open.
And Professor… walked in.
Duk, duk.
The sharp sound of leather shoes hitting the floor echoed with each step.
Hearing this, everyone immediately scattered like frightened birds and beasts.
Even Logan, despite his arrogance, wasn't stupid enough to challenge a professor.
So, with a huff, he turned and left with his lackeys.
Rex watched his retreating back with an expression that seemed to say, 'What a fool,' then casually sat back down with a smirk on his face.
Yet, as he leaned back, he felt a pair of eyes burning into him.
