Seeing the increasing wickedness of humanity, God decided to cleanse the earth with a great flood. He would wipe out all life and start anew. However, because of Noah's faithfulness, God spared him and his family. He gave Noah specific instructions to build a massive ark—a large wooden vessel designed to withstand the coming deluge.
God commanded Noah to bring two of every kind of animal, male and female, onto the ark. He was also to bring his wife, his three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth), and their wives. Noah followed God's instructions with precision, demonstrating his unwavering faith and obedience.
Once the ark was sealed, the floodwaters came, covering the entire earth. Every living thing that was not aboard the ark perished. For forty days and nights, rain poured from the heavens, and the waters rose, submerging even the highest mountains.
After the storm, the waters gradually receded, and the ark came to rest on Mount Ararat. When the land was dry, God commanded Noah and his family to leave the ark and repopulate the earth. As a sign of His promise never to destroy the world by flood again, God placed a rainbow in the sky. This covenant was a symbol of His mercy and faithfulness, reminding humanity that He is both just and loving.
