Chapter 33: Enemies in the Dark

Rome – Marco's Hideout – Midnight

The air was suffocating inside the hideout. There was no light except for the glowing bulb that almost illuminated the entire place. Marco was sitting at the table, staring at the scattered map in front of him, while Franco and Salvo stood near the dark hideout window, watching the path that might lead to their fate.

"Everything is getting more complicated." Franco said, slowly folding the map. "Scarlett won't stop here. He won't shut up."

Marco looked up from the map, his eyes blazing with anger. "We know he won't shut up. The longer we delay moving, the stronger they become. That's why we have to be fast, but we can't jump into the unknown. We have one goal: control."

"And what are we going to do with that goal?" Salvo asked, glancing back toward the hideout window. "It seems the police are everywhere. Any move could lead to us being pursued again."

But Marco smiled cautiously and said, "The police? We don't care about the police now. Our real enemies aren't the police. They're the ones who think they control this world."

His words reflected his determination, but at the same time, Franco felt something strange. Something in his heart was beating faster, like a vague feeling that they were on the brink of something much bigger than they had anticipated.

"And what's the next step?" Franco asked. "We can't run away forever. We need to come up with a plan that will ensure we take control."

At that moment, Luca Ferri entered the room, carrying his usual large bag. His bag might be full of equipment, or maybe it had new weapons.

"Are we ready for the next stage?" Luca said with a wide smile, noticing the frustration in the air.

Marco looked at him cautiously and said, "Ready? I don't think any of us are ready for this game. But we have no choice but to move forward."

The Dark Deal

At that moment, Marco's phone rang. He looked at him cautiously, and when he saw the caller's name, he felt something strange creep into his heart. The call was from someone he never expected: Filippo Scarletti.

"What does he want?" Marco muttered to himself.

"Answer." Luca said in a mysterious tone, approaching him.

Marco nodded and answered the phone, looking down at the ground.

"Hello, Marco." The cold voice on the other end said. "I've been waiting for this day. I think you understand what this call means."

Marco took a deep breath before answering. "You've set us up for a trap. Now we need to deal with it."

"A trap?" Scarlett chuckled softly. "I'm just sending you an invitation to the next stage of the game. But I don't think you're ready to do what's necessary."

At that moment, everyone felt as if the atmosphere had changed. Scarlett was playing with them, and Marco knew it was time to make a decision.

"What exactly do you want?" Marco asked, carefully pressing the phone.

"Everything will become clear in due time." Scarlett answered, then suddenly hung up.

The Big Move

"We're in the real game now." Marco said, putting the phone on the table. "Scarlett knows we're in the hideout. But I don't think he has any idea what's next."

"What's our move?" Salvo asked, stepping slightly towards Marco.

Marco smiled cautiously. "We now know where we are, but the question is: where is he? And where will the final confrontation be?"

Suddenly, Luca began to pack his bag, as if he was preparing for a sudden move. "The longer we wait, the more dangerous the situation becomes. We need to move quickly."

"Good idea." Marco said as he stood up. "Now, it's time to attack."

Revenge Begins

They began to make their plan. It was a dark night, and the streets were so quiet it was as if the city itself was waiting for what would happen. At that moment, everyone felt like they were about to slip into the depths of darkness. But they were determined that the end would be theirs.

"Let them feel the force of this attack." Marco said, expressing his strong will to control the situation. "We're not just chasing them. We're sending them a message."

As they moved through the narrow alleys, the sound of their footsteps echoed off the walls. There was no turning back now. They were on the brink of a major confrontation.

In an instant, the city was waiting, and everyone knew the end was near, but the real fight had yet to begin.
