Chapter 32: Back to the Beginning

Rome – St. Lucia District – Morning

The morning was beginning to dawn, but the city was still engulfed in the darkness left by the recent explosion. Ambulances and police cars were scattering throughout the city, as Marco, Franco, and Salvo drove quickly through the narrow streets, their eyes alert for any movement that might reveal their location.

"We were lucky to get out alive, but now we're in an unenviable position." Salvo said as he looked at Marco in the front seat.

"Escape wasn't the ideal solution, but we had no other choice." Marco answered, focusing on the busy road.

But Franco was deep in thought. "What will Filippo Scarletti do now? Will he try to take revenge?"

Marco looked ahead and answered cautiously, "Scarletti was planning to take control of everything. He won't stand idly by, but for now we need to plan our next move."

"Are we really ready for this?" Franco asked in a worried tone. "We've become a prime target, and any wrong move could destroy us."

But before Marco could respond, they felt something strange. A black car was following them closely, and there was a feeling that they were being watched.

"Do you think someone is following us?" Salvo said as he looked in the mirror.

Marco tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "It was expected. But we won't let things go easily."

Running in the Dark

Despite the car's speed, the pursuit was closing in on them. Marco quickly pulled his car into a narrow side street, turning to Franco and Salvo. "Get ready to run."

But as soon as they entered the side street, the black car stopped behind them. A person got out of it, striding confidently towards them.

"It's Luca Ferri!" Franco said, staring at the huge figure approaching them.

But Luca looked different. This time he was carrying a large bag, and he was smiling sarcastically. "What are you waiting for?" he said, stepping closer to them. "I think you need help."

"Are you coming to disrupt our plans again?" Marco asked cautiously.

"Plans? No… I think we're on the same team now." Luca replied, opening the bag to reveal several weapons. "I thought you'd need these."

"And you were going to trick us from the start?" Salvo said angrily.

Luca laughed, then raised his hand to calm things down. "No, no. I didn't mean to trick you. I just like to be ready."

But as they were discussing, they heard sirens rapidly approaching. The police were gathering in the area, and they were about to be surrounded.

The Final Decision

"We won't survive if we stay here." Marco said. "The police will be here in a moment."

"So, what's the solution?" Franco asked.

"The solution?" Luca replied with a smile, pulling a small device from his bag. "I planted something in the area. They won't be able to move quickly."

Suddenly, loud gunshots rang out from afar, confusing the police. "We need to get out now!" Luca said quickly.

Marco, who was fully aware that this was an unmissable escape opportunity, quickly looked at Franco and Salvo, then nodded. "Follow me."

Escape into the unknown

The street was crowded, people running in every direction. But Marco and the team had already taken the harder route, running through the narrow alleys towards the exit that Luca knew.

"Where do we go now?" Salvo asked, breathing heavily.

"To the hideout." Marco replied, pressing his foot on the gas. "There we will have a chance to plan."

As they approached the final exit point, they felt something strange in the air. There was a loud noise, and a group of people were jostling. As they got closer, they discovered that there was a battle going on on the main street.

"This is more than we expected." Franco said, staring at the chaos around them. "It seems like everyone here is at war."

The next step

They finally reached the hideout, where they found a small room in the basement of an old building. The place was cramped, but the security was tight enough.

"Now we have to decide what to do." Marco said, placing the map on the table. "Scarlett won't let us live for long. We need revenge."

Luca looked at them with a serious look. "But you need real strength to fight this man. And I'm just here to make your path easier."

As they planned their next moves, they all felt like the real battle had just begun.
