It's All About Essence

THIRD POV—

It was raining heavily. It was the time of night... though, the sky had a reddish tint to it. It was making it look both beautiful and mysterious at the same time. As the history says, 'A thing can either be beautiful or, mysterious. Combining both of them is a sure recipe for disaster.'

There was something ominous in the air itself. People could feel something was wrong yet, they were not able to pinpoint it.

Inside a big villa, we could see a young woman in her 20s, thrashing in her bed. All of a sudden, she stopped thrashing. She slowly opened her eyes and sat on the bed. She gazed her chest in horror as she touched it and squeezed it. She touched all over body, her expression changing to despair. Suddenly, her eyes fell on a big mirror. She practically jumped out of her bed and ran towards it.

When she looked at the mirror, she saw a beautiful woman with black hair and mesmerizing eyes looking at her. Her expression changed several times, finally settling on a sad expression. She slowly walked back to the bed and sat on it.

'You were really serious,' stated the woman.

[Yes, I was.]

The woman was Scott. He... or now, she had been reincarnated in a woman's body.

'Is it permanent?'

[As I said before... you didn't have any essence left after your soul was damaged. With my help, you absorbed new essence, creating a whole new identity for you. You can no longer do anything about this. So, yes... it's permanent.]

'What about my reward then? With that I could change back.'

[No, it won't work. If soul gets any kind of damage... then you would simply cease to exist.]

Every hope that Scott had, got crushed in an instant.

'Fine, I just need to accept it, right?'

[Don't worry too much. This is now your body. You are the owner of it. With your newly acquired essence, you won't have a single regret of being a woman.]

Closing her eyes, Scott analysed her situation. The system's words were true. She felt that this was her own body. Not just that, she also felt that she has been rejuvenated. She had a new kind of energy in her. She thought it didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was her life. She was still alive.

Opening her eyes, Scott yelled in her mind. 'System! What's the mission?'

Her yelling left the system a bit confused. It never expected her to jump back on her feet so quickly. Then again, Scott wasn't bright to begin with.

[You are no longer sad?]

'No, it doesn't matter. Man or woman, I don't care as long as I am alive. It's not that I will like men. I still like women.'

[What if someday you like a man?]

'It won't happen. I can guarantee you.'

[If you say so. Well, I am going to give you the 'plot' book. Read it and then we would discuss your mission.]

A book materialized in her hand. Scott opened it and started reading it. The book said, 'This world is based on a zombie apocalyptic setting. The moment the apocalypse hit the earth, all continents drifted and unified once again like millions of years ago, called 'Pangea.' Every living creature was affected by the apocalypse. Some turned into zombies and others gained abilities. Not a single electronic item worked after the apocalypse hit the earth. Governments, militaries, navies... everything, fell down. Lawlessness became the body of the new earth whereas, crimes became the soul.

You have been reincarnated as the villainess of the story. Your new name is Alexandra Swann. The male leads of this story are your childhood friends. Your job will be explained by the system.'

'Why am I reincarnated as the villainess?'

[It's because there were two options for you. Either you will be heroine or, the villainess. Normally, I would have pressed you for the heroine but due to the system administrator's decision, you have been reincarnated as the villainess. From now on, you are Alexandra Swann.]

Scott, no... Alexandra accepted it. It wasn't like she had some other choice that she could make.

'What's my mission then?'

[Let me check... this... impossible!]

'What happened?' Alexandra was a bit anxious hearing it exclaim with a disbelieving tone.

[I have never seen any mission like this before. Your mission is to— 'Kill the male leads and the take over this world.']
