My Sister wants him

CHAPTER TWO

RANDELL'S POV

"No dad! You have absolutely no right to choose a marriage partner for me," I said furiously.

"You're not growing any younger, are you? He asked, relaxing his hands on his office's table as he stared daringly at me.

How could he look so relaxed after making such a selfish decision?

His reply fueled my anger the more, I could feel my nostrils enlarge into a funnel as I replied rudely "How dare you father? How dare you make a decision for your twenty-seven year old son? Did Grandfather marry mom for you? You absolutely had no right. I won't get married and there's nothing you can do about that"

"Enough of the insults!!! It's either you get married or say goodbye to your inheritance." He screamed back at me.

His words pierced through my brain and gave it a sudden calm. The brain cells surely did understand threats when they felt one.

"You're joking, right?" I squinted my eyes at him as he sat on his swivel chair, eyes in an angry haze.

For a second I thought he was actually going to lunge forward and give me a knock, just like he had always done when I was little. But the thought flew away just as quickly as it had flown in.

How could he do that now? When getting up from that swivel chair was a war to be fought with all might and middle-aged energy

He laughed out loud in a devilish tone. "I must really look stupid to you. You now consider my words, jokes. Why not try me and see, let's find out if you'll still be laughing when the deed is done."

The talk of inheritance always humbled me. My father was not one to say things he could not accomplish. I knew he could easily deny me the inheritance and give it to one of his bastard sons.

"Father, I didn't mean to anger you. It's just that... You should've informed me before taking the decisions," I said in a now calm and submissive voice, eyes open to reality.

"Have you told mother yet? I continued, trying to win his anger over

He gave out a furious whistle sigh as he mumbled a subtle "no"

"That's all I had to tell you. Go and prepare, for your wedding will take place next week's Friday.

"What!!!, Who's wedding? Dad.. that's way too sudden. Today's already a friday, how do we intend to make the invites and pick dresses and so on?" I hadn't even met the unlucky girl and now he was forcing everything on me

In reply, he took out a document and busied himself in concentration.

"Father please, let's make an extension. Let me atleast try adjusting to the situation at hand"

He looked up from his paper and looked through his medicated glasses "Look son, you need time? One week's enough time. Now leave!!!" He commanded

I took a final look at his voluminous body and ego before picking my butt out from the chair and heading to the door.

"And don't forget to take a bouquet of flower to her to show your utmost acceptance," he added

I stopped on the third feet as I turned to grasp a proper understanding of the vague sentence he had just made "Sorry?"

"Well, If you stop questioning my authority and do just as I've advised you, I'll get a mansion for you in LA," He said with a mischievous smile on his face

I gave him a bewildered look and couldn't comprehend why he could go this far for a common marriage. Could there be another motive? My father was never a honest man, and was very gifted in the art of manipulation

At the hospital

VIOLET'S POV

"Doctor, will she be okay?" Father asked with absolute concern as we sat in the hospital room, close to Tiana's ashen face and body. Pamela had been left at home with a nanny

"Yes, she will, she just needs to rest," the doctor replied as professional as he could. "She just has a mild case of Laryngospasm"

My mom cleaned her tears and looked at the doctor in confusion, "Sorry, what?"

"What does that mean" my father asked, putting my mom's shrill question in a presentable fashion

The doctor sighed and started, "I feel it'll be better if we discussed it in my office, for..

"I think it'll be understood better if my wife and children hear it too"

"Okay. It is an uncontrolled, spasmodic closure of the larynx," the doctor replied using the register of words that were far from understandable

My mom didn't detach herself In such situation, but made her non-comprehension fully known "And what does all that mean?" She asked rudely

"That is, it happens when the vocal cords suddenly seize up or close when taking in a breath, blocking the flow of air into the lungs," he made eye contact consecutively at us.

"It will however be best for her to avoid taking fruit juices, fatty foods and peppermint. These foods can trigger heartburn thereby causing the spasm. She should also eat smaller meals and eat four hours to bedtime," I sighed tiredly. We were going to go through a lot for Tiana.

"We will make tests to find out the main cause of her Laryngospasm," he concluded with a click of his fingers.

I looked at her face as she slept soundly

"Is she okay now?" I tried to put on a sisterly figure

The doctor gave a wide smile and replied a kindly "Yes, the spasms don't usually last more than two minutes"

Everyone sighed in relief, even Tiana. She had just woken.

I stood from the available cushion in the hospital room and went close to her. "You're awake? Thank God!" I exclaimed happily, caressing her hair gently

She gave a cold stare and turned away, not ready to have a conversation.

Did she in anyway blame me for the recent turnout of events? If only she knew how badly I detested the marriage idea.

She turned back her face to me and said hoarsely "it's all your fault".

The words rang like a bell in my ear. Was it really my fault? Did she think I planned it all along.

My father came into the picture and tried to format her brain properly "if fault there was, it would be mine," he said, ceremonially ending the discussion.

We sat still, waiting for the doctor to return with the test results, when the door suddenly flew open, giving everyone a start.

There stood a strikingly handsome gentleman who scanned the room with his blue heavenly eyes.

His lips were pursed together and looked slightly too pink, almost purple. His perfectly styled hair was put just across his eyes and were of the darkest brown. He held out the flowers in his hands like they were some biting insects.

"Sorry to interrupt your...." He hung it on the air. "I intend to hand this over to the eldest daughter," He surprised everyone with his deep vocals

My father stood in surprise, and walked towards him extending a hand for a hand shake while Tiana was giggling and wriggling like a salted worm.

It seemed everyone could recognize the young man except me. Who was he and why did he have flowers in his hands? I questioned myself silently, hoping to get some answers from my already blank brain

"This is my eldest daughter, Violet." My father introduced me to him "You know him right?" He asked

I nodded, afraid to lose face in front of everyone, in case he was someone every educated person should know.

"I'm Randell Dandy, your husband to be," he let the words out like they were some garbage piece

I staggered in confusion, I was still trying to process his words when the matter of fact-like lady spoke "Why not marry me instead?" She said confidently, not minding her lying position.

The sentence itself brought a ghostly silence to the room.

Did the LaryngoWhatever tamper a little with her brain? What was she trying to pull off.

It was at least understandable that a drama queen like her, will always find an opportunity to create an unforgettable drama experience. But this, was too much. What will Randell think of all of us?

"What?" Randell managed to voice out loud after leaving his mouth in a gape. Truly everyone in the room were shocked to their marrow. I was pretty sure that no one had anticipated those words.

She smiled and came up in a sitting position.

"Marry me Randell"

All eyes averted to Randell, I could see the gentle plea in my father's eyes.

"No, I like this one better," he pointed at me and sent Tiana wailing back to her lying position.
