"Skye!! Skye!! Open the door!"
The banging had gotten her out of bed and she rushed to the door to open it while she rubbed sleep out of her eyes. Dawn hadn't broken yet but her best friend was standing at the entrance in her favourite PJs, an angry frown evident on her face.
"Bitch wtf? It's past 5am in the morning, what the hell are you doing here?" She moaned out still half asleep till Arianna stormed in and dragged her along, also closing the door behind them.
"I should be asking you that question! Have you seen the news!?!" She was still screaming, her eyes frantically searched the house and she found the remote, with the click of a button the TV was on and the local news channel was in the background.
"Leonard Keller has announced his own wedding, it will be the biggest event of the century! A few days ago a mystery woman appeared at KCC's celebratory party and claimed to be pregnant for Leonard, now he has agreed to marry her." The reporter droned, Arianna crossing her hand above her chest.
Skye didn't know what to say so she kept quiet, a lot of emotions swirling up inside of her, she so badly wanted to tell her that she was pregnant for Leonard but it would lead into a big disaster.
"This was not part of the plan." Her best friend reminded her.
Skye dropped to the couch and thought about her actions, she had a feeling she would regret what she was doing. She looked at her bestie and sniffed air in, "do you trust me?"
There was a moment of silence, "yes I do, more than I trust myself."
"I'll handle it." She gave her reassurance and they hugged it out.
The sun was out and so were people going around their daily activities, every billboard displayed the news of Leonard and Skye and their wedding. She was surprised that Leonard had taken the initiative to set the date without her but it showed that he was serious about their proposal. But it scared her, why would he just agree? He had a feeling there was something behind this wedding she wasn't seeing.
Leonard had called for her, his men had come to pick her and like the last time, she didn't struggle. They took her to where he was staying and she met him playing chess by himself. She took a seat in front of him as he calculated his next move. Minutes of uncomfortable silence had passed.
"Did you call me here to watch you play chess?" Agitation was evident in her voice and a smirk laced his lips.
"Have you not watched the news?" He made the pawn move and relaxed in his chair, "I want to make something clear to you, once my child is born, we go our separate ways and I have major custody of the baby. You do not interfere with my business and I don't interfere in yours. Everything I own will be yours temporarily but make one mistake and you will regret it. Understood my little Angel?"
"Understood."
"Good." He reached out to caress her cheeks before snapping his fingers, his men brought out a file and an inkpad and set it in front of her, "sign it. That seals our marriage."
She opened the file and read the contract, the terms were just as they had discussed and there was no hidden clause. She couldn't believe it, she stole a glimpse of him through the corner of her eye, he was hiding something. But nonetheless, she stamped her inked thumb on the paper and it was sealed. They were officially married on paper, what was left was the wedding.
The days moved faster and Skye was bombarded with gifts from Leonard left right and centre. There was nothing he didn't get her, he bought her cars, jewellery, houses and the latest one was sending the wedding dress to her place.
"So I guess I'm getting married now…" she looked at herself in the mirror, a replica of a goddess and it was surprising how a few months ago, King had left her. Now she was getting married to the richest man in the city, in the country. She never believed it would happen, because she never planned it.
The day of the wedding had arrived and it was the most expensive wedding in the history of the city. Leonard went all out with decorations and invites, he didn't spare a thing, even their altar was decorated with gold and diamonds. It was pure affluence.
"Everything is ready, your bride is on her way." King delivered updates, placing himself in front of Leonard, "however I am curious to know why you decided to marry this strange woman out of the blue."
"Because she will be my ticket to Acer Milan."
"That company is worth billions of dollars, and the owner only deals with family men…" it took a minute for King to understand, then he understood, "that's a smart move, boss, killing two birds with one stone." He sang his praises.
"We will talk more about it later, right now, it's time to get married."
The venue was full, with elites, and the press, everyone marvelled at how beautifully decorated the place was and it was getting the attention it deserved. Leonard waited for Skye at the altar and when she was ready, he watched her walk down the aisle.
His eyes scanned her greedily, not only will she make him a billionaire, she will also provide him a heir and when he was done he would get rid of her. She flashed her a small smile as she stood in front of him.
"We are here for the holy matrimony of man and woman." The priest started his regular talk while Leonard noticed that his bride could not keep his eyes on him. He squeezed her hands and that was enough to bring her focus to him. Was she scared? Or was she hiding something, "Leonard Keller, do you take Vanya Skye George to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"Yes I do." The crowd clapped loudly, drawing a smirk on his lips.
"Vanya Skye George, do you take Leonard Keller to be your husband and to stay with him for the rest of your life?" She paused for a moment before looking him straight in the eye.
"Yes I do."
"You can now kiss the bride." The priest gave them the go ahead but as they were about to kiss, a loud noise erupted from the back of the wedding hall, everyone turned their heads to see what was going on, they couldn't see anyone but they could only hear his voice.
"Imposter! Don't do it Leonard! She's a fraud!" And the wedding had been successfully crashed.
