35.The Cursed Forest

The journey to Luminaria took an eerie turn when Merslin and his companions ventured into the 'Cursed Forest'—a land shrouded in darkness and cursed energy. The trees were twisted into grotesque shapes, and even the faintest light that tried to pierce through the canopy was swallowed by the gloom.

Elena: "This place… It's the Cursed Forest. We must proceed with extreme caution."

Serena: "There could be cursed creatures lurking here. Let's stay on high alert."

Moving cautiously through the forest, they couldn't shake the unsettling sensation of being watched. The air was thick with an ominous presence, and crows circled above, their cries echoing through the trees.

Lisa: "These crows… They're making me uneasy. Are they just ordinary birds?"

Serena: "Something feels off. It's as if we're being observed."

Elena raised her hand, focusing her magical senses, searching for any hidden forces within the shadows of the trees. Her eyes narrowed as she whispered,

Elena: "Serena is right. These crows are not ordinary—they are spies. There's a magical eye watching us from within the darkness."

Merslin, deep in thought, nodded and prepared to test something.

Merslin: "Let me try something. Stay alert."

He spread small embers in a circular formation, their light flickering harmlessly. But then, at one specific spot, the embers refused to spread any further.

Merslin: "Illuminate, Light!"

At his command, the magic revealed a concealed 'Eye of Surveillance,' a cursed entity used to monitor those who left the Elven Forest.

Lisa: "Merslin, that's incredible! You managed to expose their surveillance!"

Aria: "Merslin, you're amazing!"

Serena and Elena exchanged glances before giving Merslin a thumbs-up.

Serena: "That was impressive, Merslin. Your magic is incredibly refined."

Elena: "Thanks to you, we can move more safely now."

Merslin: "We have to be wary of these eyes and crows. We can't let our guard down."

With their awareness heightened, they pressed on carefully, determined to reach Luminaria despite the dangers that lay ahead.

The Whispering Tree

As they advanced through the forest, they suddenly heard a faint groaning sound, filled with anguish. Following the source of the sound, they discovered a massive tree that seemed to be alive—moaning in pain. Its bark was cracked, and dark liquid seeped from within.

Merslin: "This tree… it's in pain. Let's take a closer look."

As they approached, the tree lashed out in defense, its thorned vines whipping toward them, its leaves turning into razor-sharp blades. The very branches moved as weapons, striking out at the party.

Lisa: "Watch out! It's attacking us!"

Elena: "We're here to help! Please, stop attacking us!"

But the tree continued its assault, unable to comprehend their words. Then, Aria, feeling the deep sorrow within the tree, recalled the druidic healing methods she had learned.

Aria: "This tree is suffering. We must heal it. Let me try something."

She pulled out a druidic bracelet she had received from the Elves and activated its power. A soothing energy enveloped the tree, and slowly, the pain it exuded began to subside. The attacks ceased, and the vines retracted.

Ancient Tree Spirit (Sylvanos): "Who… are you? Why have you healed me?"

Aria: "We heard your suffering and couldn't ignore it."

Sylvanos: "There is a cursed orb embedded in me. It is the source of my pain. Please… remove it."

Elena: "I'll handle this."

Elena carefully extracted the orb, which radiated dark energy. The moment it was removed, Sylvanos sighed in relief. The forest around them seemed to brighten, the darkness retreating slightly.

Sylvanos: "Thank you, travelers. You have freed me from my torment. This orb is powerful, and now it is yours to keep."

Elena held the orb, feeling the chilling energy pulsating within.

Elena: "We'll ensure it's put to good use. Thank you, Sylvanos."

Merslin: "We did it. This forest is safe again."

Serena: "That was incredible, Elena. Your magic is truly powerful."

Elena: "It was a team effort. Now, let's continue to Luminaria and fulfill our mission."

As they left the forest, they could still feel eyes watching them—silent, unseen, but ever-present.

The Rangers' Assistance

After escaping the Cursed Forest, Merslin and his party continued toward Luminaria. They remained cautious, knowing that Blood Elves could be tracking them. Suddenly, an arrow whizzed past them. Serena instinctively dodged, and Lisa raised her shield just in time to block another incoming shot.

Lisa: "Who's there? Show yourself!"

The party readied themselves for battle, scanning the dense trees. Soon, a group of figures emerged from the shadows—Rangers, their bows drawn but not attacking.

Ranger Leader Erin: "Apologies. It's rare to see outsiders in these woods. Who are you?"

Merslin produced the scroll given to him by the Elves and showed it to the Ranger leader.

Merslin: "We're traveling to Luminaria. We also carry an urgent message from Lady Irene of the Elves."

Erin examined the scroll and the Elven seal embedded with magic.

Erin: "This is indeed an official seal. That means… you must be the ones who aided the Elves. You are safe with us."

At his words, the tension among the Rangers eased. They lowered their weapons and stepped forward.

Merslin: "Who are you?"

Erin: "We are the Rangers, protectors of this forest. We've been fighting to keep the Blood Elves at bay. Our ancestors have safeguarded these woods for generations, and we continue their legacy."

Elena: "The Blood Elves have been tracking us. Can you help us reach Luminaria safely?"

Erin: "Of course. With our guidance, you'll avoid their patrols. Let's take an alternate route."

The Rangers led them through hidden paths, expertly evading the Blood Elves' surveillance. But Serena remained uneasy.

Serena: "Even if we've escaped their eyes for now, the crows and those watching us won't stop so easily."

Elena: "She's right. The Blood Elves know we're heading to Luminaria. We must stay vigilant."

Hearing this, Erin gave a knowing nod before issuing a command.

Erin: "Crows, huh? Don't worry. Our archers are precise."

At his signal, a volley of arrows soared through the air, striking down the crows that had been following them.

Lisa: "That was incredible! You took them all out in an instant."

Erin: "Now, let's deal with the watching eyes. Merslin, Elena—can you locate them?"

Merslin and Elena focused their magic, pinpointing the hidden surveillance spells. The Rangers then fired precisely at the detected locations, dispelling the magical spies.

Merslin: "Thank you, Erin. That was a great help."

Erin: "The road is safer now. The night is falling—join us in our Ranger stronghold."

They followed Erin through the dense forest until they arrived at a hidden fortress, camouflaged within the trees. Guards stood watch from elevated platforms, ensuring no enemy could enter unnoticed.

Erin: "This is our stronghold. Rest here tonight."

Merslin: "Thank you, Erin. We truly appreciate your hospitality."

The Rangers provided food and a place to rest. During the meal, Serena noticed their impressive archery skills and eagerly watched their training.

Serena: "Lisa, their archery skills are incredible. I want to try."

As she approached the Rangers, a young male Ranger named Immerthang smirked.

Immerthang: "How about a contest? If I win, you grant me a favor."

Excited, Serena accepted the challenge. Both shot flawlessly, but on the final arrow, Serena split Immerthang's arrow in half, winning.

Immerthang: "Impressive. I acknowledge your skill."

An elder Ranger, Aden, then approached, handing Serena a beautifully crafted bow.

Aden: "This is the Starlight Bow—a weapon that harnesses the power of the night sky. Wield it well."

Serena accepted it with gratitude, realizing she had grown even stronger.

The journey to Luminaria continued, with the party now better prepared for the battles ahead.
