As soon as Joel sat down, the door was pushed open and Mo Shian walked into the room with steady steps and a straight back. The aura in the meeting room changed instantly as everyone felt the air around them become colder than before. The rate of their heartbeat increased and everyone lowered their heads automatically. It was like a conditioned reflex.
"Begin the meeting." Mo Shian said as soon as he sat down on his chair at the head of the table.
The first person stood up and walked to the large screen to start his presentation. Even though he wore a calm expression, he was shaking with fear inside. He hoped that the proposal his team had come up with was up to standards.
"We propose that the second floor of the new mall should have a high-end restaurant to cater to the wealthy people who would be coming to shop there and might find it difficult to dine at the restaurant on the first floor…."
Bang!
Mo Shian hit the table with the folder he was holding.
"What kind of garbage is this? Do you call this a proposal? What have I been paying you for? This is a high-end mall and no matter how common the restaurant on the first floor appears, it is a high-class restaurant with Michelin chefs. So, how common could it be? Why would there be a need to duplicate what is already there?" Mo Shian asked with a cold voice that made everyone freeze.
It was not loud, but it could make anyone pee their pants. The executive doing the presentation almost fainted from fright.
"I..I…I will come up wi..with another pro….posal." he stammered.
"If you can't come up with something fresh in three days, then pack up and leave. I am not going to waste company money on incompetent employees." Mo Shian announced, then he got up and left.
As soon as the door closed, the executive who was doing the presentation collapsed on the floor. He was thanking his lucky stars for not getting fired on the spot. He didn't know what to do anymore.
As soon as Mo Shian walked out of the meeting room, he headed toward his exclusive private elevator and went to the underground parking lot. His driver was waiting outside the car. It was a black limited edition, Maybach.
"Good evening Mr. Mo." Greeted the driver.
"Good evening Uncle Fu." Came Mo Shian's reply.
Uncle Fu opened the back seat door and Mo Shian got in. After closing the door, he walked back to the driver's side and got into the car too. He started the engine and the Maybach left the parking lot and soon joined the 4.00 o'clock traffic. It would take thirty minutes to get home as the traffic had not become heavy yet.
Uncle Fu looked at the back seat through the rearview mirror at the quiet man who had leaned against the seat and had his eyes closed. He couldn't help but heave a sigh. In the last two months, the Young Master had been gloomy because of his wife. Even though he didn't know the details of what had happened, he knew that the two newlyweds had been having some problems and they were making the Young Master sad.
Uncle Fu had been transferred from the old house by Mo Shian's grandmother to be his driver. He had worked for the Mo family since he was a young man and now he was in his fifties. He had watched the Young Master grow. So, he couldn't help but sympathize with him when he saw the frown on his face. It felt like his own son was going through a rough patch, but there was nothing he could do to help. He sighed again and concentrated on driving.
Mo Shian could hear Uncle Fu sigh and he knew it was because of him, but he couldn't do anything. He just pretended not to notice because he didn't want to answer questions he didn't know the answer to.
He had tried to think about where the problem between him and Weiwei started but he couldn't put a finger on it. He just hoped things would get better. Every day on his way home he would pray that when he walked through the door Weiwei would smile at him and give him a kiss like before, but every day he got disappointed.
He wondered if the torture would ever end.
Soon, the car left the busy highway and followed a road that led to the outskirts of the city. Josen Garden was built halfway up the mountain on the outskirts of the city. It was quiet and was surrounded by trees and a river passed right through their estate.
It was tranquil and beautiful.
The first time he brought Weiwei to the villa, she looked so happy like a kid who had received their favorite toy. He couldn't help but smile when he remembered her excitement and how she ran around the villa and praised him for doing such a great job on the landscaping. He felt proud that he had bought that mountain and constructed the villa there.
The car soon started the climb up the mountain and pulled into the driveway. Mo Shian did not wait for Uncle Fu to open the door for him. He got down and walked towards the front door with apprehension. He didn't know if Weiwei was already better, even though he had called Aunt Wu twice during the day to ask about her condition and she said Weiwei was alright, he was still worried.
He also didn't know whether today she would still give him the cold shoulder again or she would at least say a word or two to him. Even one word would make his day. He wasn't too greedy. He pushed the door open and took two steps before he stopped in his tracks.
