Chapter Nine

Third Person's POV

David and Mia held hands as they came out of Mia's mom's house. Mia turned to look at her mother who smiled at her.

“Don't worry my dear child, Mommy promises to be much more careful in the future”, Mia's mother reassures her daughter.

Mia nodded and sniffed, blinked her eyes rapidly and nodded again.

" Okay”, she softly agreed.

David squeezed Mia's hands gently and said, " Excuse me for a moment. I have an errand that I want Kate to run.”

Mia sniffed and nodded.

David went to Kate and whispered a few things in her ear. Kate nodded and flew away.

David ran back to Mia, held her shoulders gently with both hands and looked at Mia's mum.

" Mama, I and Mia will be heading back to the Alpha mansion.”

" Alright son. Take very good care of her.”

" I will.”

David led Mia to the cat and after making sure that she was comfortably seated, went to the driver's seat. As he started the car and drove slowly, Mia wound down the glass of the passenger's window and waved to her mother.

“Bye, Bye Mama."

“Good bye dear."

Mia's mother smiled fondly at her child as she remembered when a very little Mia waved her goodbye when she and her late husband used to go for Pack meetings in the Blood Moon Pack.

She choked up a little and fighting the urge to weep, waved till the car was out of sight.

David drove the car along an unfamiliar road and Mia realized that she had never been on that road before.

“Where are we going?", Asked Mia.

David turned to look at Mia and said, “Are you scared?"

Mia frowned deeply as she stared David down. David smirked and turned to face the road.

“Don't worry, I am not

kidnapping you."

As he drove further from the normal green scenery, she noticed that the trees further had white flowers of different types and they carried a sweet fragrance that made her spirit calm. There where white birds chirping on the trees, it was beautiful.

David drove for a while before coming to a stop where the road forked into two junctions. At the right, Kate was standing with a huge basket that was covered with a white cloth.

David got down and opened the car door for Mia, helping her gently to get out of the car.

He held her hand gently and they walked with fingers intertwined towards kate. David took the basket from Kate and she made a small bow to Mia before flying away.

He turned to look at Mia and said, “Shall we?"

“Where are we going?", She asked.

“Just you wait and see."

David smiled broadly and tried to lead her off into the forest but she snatched her hand away from his. He turned to look at her, his mouth agape and his eyes widened.

David took a deep breath and looks into mia's eyes

“Mia, I don't know what happened to you in the past but I want you to know that I care about you and your mother and I will do anything to protect you both. And I want you to know that I am not mad at you for hitting me but I am glad that I have a strong mate who I can lean on for help. Just…give me a speck of your trust. Please.”

Mia's face glistened as she sniffed and began to cry out rhythmically .

David put the basket down and walked slowly but carefully to Mia. When he got to her, he held her by the waist and hugged her ever so gently but firmly.

He released her and cleaned her tears with his thumb as she stared at him with her big blue eyes. So adorable, He thought.

" Do you know where I am taking you?”

Mia shook her head.

" Do you want to know?”

She nodded her head like a baby.

" I am taking you to my favorite spot in this forest. I used to come here to spend some time alone but now that I have you, it's no longer my spite but ours. I had the maids prepare lots of snacks for us. They are in the basket.”

Mia's lips curved upwards and her dull eyes became bright. David smiled and he turned to get the basket but he had only walked a few steps away before Mia called him.

“David."

He stopped and turned back. She walked up to him when she was close enough, stepped on her tiptoes, grabbed his collar to bring his face closer to hers and kissed him.

Then she walked away from him. David's body quivered and he stood still for a moment before grinning and turning back. He took the basket and held Mia's hand. The two stared longingly at each other before turning to lead her to his favorite spot.

David and Mia were seated in the car as David drove on the road leading back to the Alpha's mansion. As the car pulled up into the driveway, David and Mia noticed that a lot of werewolves were gathered outside the mansion.

“There he is!", a voice shouted.

The intensity of the voice caused chills to run down the spine of both of them and the romantic atmosphere vanished and was replaced by tension.

David parked the car immediately, got out of the driver's seat and rushed to help Mia out.

“David", Alpha Kane shouted. He rushed towards his son, his breathing ragged.

“David, I hate to tell you this but Beta Kelvin is missing, his wife just reported this just a few hours ago."

David's world stopped as the air around him became tight and he unknowingly fell into the arms of Mia for comfort. The weight of his responsibilities as future Alpha weighed heavily on him. He thought of the missing kids not yet found and now Beta Kelvin was added to his list.
