Third Person's POV
David's rushed breathing echoed in the dark room which was illuminated only by a single bulb dangling in the middle of him and Mia.
Mia was tied fast to a chair, her legs were bound to the legs of the chair and her upper torso was wrapped with thin ropes. Her head was drooped over.
David eyed the men who had captured him and his mate. One of them walked over with a bucket and poured its content on Mia. Mia jolted up, trembling violently.
One of the men walked up to her and grabbed her by the hair backwards, as he did so, David tightened his fist until his vein bulged.
"Easy there, young Alpha. Any wrong decision you make will spell doom for your lovely mate!"
As he said that, he brought his face closer to Mia and let his wet tongue lick her face from her chin up to her face. This made Mia let out a low yell as she shut her eyes tightly and pursed her lips.
He turned to look at David with a smug smile on his face and said with a voice filled with pity,
"She is so helpless with the collar around her neck. Pity."
He threw her head forcefully back, tears streamed down from Mia's eyes as her eyes met David's.
"Let's play a little game, shall we."
Mia turned to look in his direction and she saw the maniac holding a hot knife and moving towards her.
"No, no, please I beg you... Leave me alone", Mia choked on her tears as the man got near her with a knife."
Get your hands off her", David struggled with his bounds.
The man played the deaf game, and simply brought the knife closer to Mia's eyes before slicing through the bounds on her chest.
“What a nice man I am. Now I wouldn't blind the one chosen by the moon goddess, ha, ha, ha."
He walked towards his brother and took the gun that was in his hands and walked over to Mia and took her right hand and placed the gun on it.
He looked at her, eyeball to eyeball and said, "We do not know how much we love someone until they are gone which is why you must kill your mate right now."
"What?", Mia said, her eyeballs wide.
"It's a privilege."
Mia threw the gun to the ground and yelled," Never will I do such a thing."
The man sighed, went to pick the gun up and he stroked it lovingly and with his back turned said,
"Brother mine, show her the crystal."
The other man removed a black cloth covering the crystal and Mia saw her mother in the crystal pinning wet clothes on the clothesline outside but not only that there was a sniper aimed at her and she was unaware.
Mia began to sob, "Please, please for the love of the moon goddess, leave my mother out of this."
The man turned to Mia and placed the gun gently in her hands, "So what shall it be, mother or mate?"
"Mate", David called her softly," We'll be fine, do it. "
Mia shook her head forcefully as her head was dropped over with her hands clutching the gun firmly, spit drooled out of her mouth as she screamed, " I love you", she closed her eyes tightly and continued in hushed tones," so, so much. "
"Oh... So you hate your mother? ", The man sneered, " Such an ungrateful child."
" Mia, pull the trigger. We'll both be fine."
Mia raised the gun up with shaking hands and pulled the trigger. Blood splattered as David fell backwards with the chair.
Mia groaned in pain as she screamed in agony. Her hand gripped the collar tightly and the temperature dropped causing her to break the collar.
The men looked at her with their eyes wide with disbelief." Quick, get another collar."
But as the other man turned to go and get another collar, David stood up from the ground and punched him hard on the head causing him to fly backwards.
Mia flexed her wrist causing her claws to grow out and she ripped the bonds that bound her legs, she immediately rushed to the other man and slit his throat. He staggered back and fell.
David looked at Mia and she ran into his arms sobbing and said, " I thought I had lost you."
David placed his hands gently on her head and pulled her backwards and said, "I told you... We are going to be alright."
Mia smiled as David's eyes scanned the room, "Let's get out of here, we still have Kevin to find."
*****
David drove the car silently down the road with blood on his body.
"I know you are wondering how I was able to survive that gunshot, I can heal from any type of wound fast."
Mia turned to look at him, "What if your leg is cut off?"
David shrugged, "It'll grow back. Cut off my pinky finger as a pup. It grew back before my very eyes."
Mia's eyes were glued to David's hands clutching the wheel and then all of a sudden, David brought the car to a halt.
" That's Kevin's car."
Mia looked and saw the white car abandoned with the doors open. David unbuckled his seat belt and bolted out of the car to Kevin's car leaving the door open and as Mia unbuckled her own seat belt, she felt the temperature drop suddenly and when she looked at the direction of the driver's seat, she saw a child's soul peeking at her.
"Hello there", she said softly.
"Heyyo."
"Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you."
The soul stepped out from behind the car door to face Mia squarely.
Mia smiled fondly then shivered and looked back at the soul, "Did you see any uncle drive that white car? "
Mia pointed to the car which David was still searching. The soul's eyes followed her pointed hands and then looked back at her, shook its head and said, "There is nothing there."
Mia turned back to look at David and suddenly felt warm, she turned just to realize that that soul had vanished.
She bolted out of the car and ran to David screaming, "David step back, it's not real."
David turned and as he ran to his mate, Mia saw the car vanish.
"What is it?", He asked as he was yet to realize that the car had vanished.
"The car is not real."
David turned and didn't see the car again. His hands went to his hair as he gripped it with both hands with his face tightening up.
Mia caught the soul of the child far off pointing to a specific direction in the forest before it vanished again.
"David", she said, "follow me."
She began to run in that direction and David looked at her and looked at the spot where the car was at one more time before turning to run after her.
As David followed her into the forest, it was not long before Mia's eyes spotted a pale man tangled in the bushes.
"David", she screamed.
David ran towards the man and turned him over.
"KEVIN."
Kevin opened his eyes weakly and smiled before coughing violently.
“Help. Me."
