Robert Is Jealous

"I'm not interested," Sophia said coldly, her words leaving room for interpretation. "But my sister Ava likes people with your kind of mindset."

"Your sister?" Steven was surprised. "A cripple with no money and not as good-looking as you? I wouldn't bother with her."

Sophia was disgusted by his words.

"Are you leaving or not?" She grew impatient. "I don't need an escort."

Steven saw Sophia's eyes turn cold.

"I don't want to upset you," he said. "I'll leave now. Think about it. I won’t treat you unfairly. I’ll give you a life of luxury."

Sophia watched Steven leave, feeling the bone-chilling cold of the wind.

"If time could rewind, I would never give the opportunity to a scumbag who doesn’t appreciate it," she trembled with anger.

A Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped in front of Sophia, and she quickly hid her expression.

As she got into the car, she felt the icy coldness emanating from Robert, as if winter had arrived early and was freezing her to the bone.

She was confused. She had asked for permission to leave today, so she shouldn’t have upset him.

"Master Miller, are you just passing by again?" She tried to start a conversation.

Robert turned his head to look out the window, ignoring Sophia.

Although they had only been together for a short time, Sophia had learned to recognize the distant and cold aura that Robert emitted when he was in a bad mood.

"Master Miller..."

"I'm here to pick you up," Robert's voice was low and icy.

He didn’t want to see Sophia.

Every time he looked at her, he couldn't help but think of her with her ex-boyfriend, letting him touch her head and looking so intimate, like a couple in love. It made him feel extremely irritable.

Sophia’s heart warmed, and she said, "Thank you for coming to pick me up, Master Miller. But if it makes you unhappy, you don’t have to come and get me in the future."

Robert felt even more blocked up inside.

"Are you afraid that I’ll see something I shouldn’t see if you don’t let me come?"

"What do you mean, Master Miller?"

Sophia's eyes were filled with complexity.

Robert pursed his thin lips and remained silent.

Late at night, Sophia found it hard to sleep. She looked at Anthony in her arms and used her phone to calculate the appraisal price.

Six thousand per person, a total of thirty thousand for the whole family.

Thirty thousand was not a small amount for someone as poor as her.

Should she…

She took out the black card that Robert had given her. She could use the money inside it as she pleased.

She put the card back in the bedside drawer.

"No, I can’t use his money. A contract is a contract, and I must abide by it."

After a night of thinking, she decided to borrow money from Ye Luo and pay him back when she received her secretary's salary.

"Miss Gu, President Robert is not in a good mood today," David stood in front of Sophia’s desk. "He just got angry with me. Did something happen between you two?"

Sophia turned to look at Robert. Even through a glass wall, she could feel the coldness emanating from him.

"I don't know," Sophia shook her head at David. "He's been in a bad mood since he took me home last night."

"President Robert hasn't lost his temper in years," David said meaningfully to Sophia. "Especially after being with you, he has become a bit more human and even..."

"And what?" Sophia asked.

"He smiles," David looked deeply into Sophia's eyes. "I've been with President Robert for so many years, and it's the first time I've seen him smile. Although it was a faint smile, he was definitely smiling."

"You're exaggerating," Sophia shook her head at David. "I've seen Robert smile several times."

"Do you notice that he only smiles in front of you, but he always looks cold in front of others?" David said, puzzled.

Sophia was taken aback. She looked at David as he left, but his words lingered in her ears.

Robert only smiled in front of her?

She thought about it and realized that it might be true. But what did his anger have to do with his smile?

Everyone smiles, so what's so strange about it?

She leaned on the table, staring at Robert, who moved gracefully and elegantly, attracting her attention.

It was the first time she had looked at him so seriously.

Suddenly, Robert seemed to sense her gaze, and she was so scared that her heart raced. She quickly looked away.

"This is too much," Stella's angry voice sounded after a long silence. "I told Robert to drive you away, and yet you still stayed here!"

"Mom, why are you here?" Robert's voice was cold and indifferent as it rang in Sophia's ears.

Sophia quickly looked up and fell into Robert's starry phoenix eyes, which made her heart beat faster and more violently.

"Is it empty?" Robert handed the document to Sophia. "Give it to David."

Sophia took the document, feeling complicated inside.

Can she not be empty?

Since she became Robert's personal secretary, he could have put a sign that read "President's Wife" on her desk, and she wouldn't have had to do anything but keep him company.

"Yes, President Robert," she said respectfully.

"Stop right there," Stella immediately blocked Sophia's path and glared at Robert with a cold expression. "What is this? I come here, and you immediately give her the documents and let her leave. Is it necessary to protect her so thoroughly?"

Stella's words caused ripples in Sophia's heart, and she couldn't help but look at Robert.

He had a handsome and cold demeanor, and there was no change in his expression despite Stella's words.

However, Sophia was very clear that Robert had been very cold to her since last night, as if she had done something wrong to anger him.

So he wouldn't take the initiative to pay attention to her, and the only possibility was as Stella had said, he wanted to avoid being harassed by Stella, deliberately keeping her away and protecting her.

"Yes, I'm protecting her," Robert said, his eyes indifferent as he looked directly at Stella.

Sophia trembled, realizing that she was just an outsider.

Between her and Stella, Robert should have been good to his mother, but he was openly protecting her, which filled her chest with warmth and gratitude for his domineering protection.

"What did you give my son? Some kind of love potion?" Stella roared at Sophia, furious at Robert's words. "He forbids me from visiting Anthony in the villa, and he doesn't answer my calls. It's all your fault."

"I didn't say anything, and I didn't give him any love potion," Sophia calmly faced Stella.

"What are you standing there for?" Robert looked at Sophia with a low voice. "You have nothing to do here. Go deliver the files."

Sophia turned to leave. Although she was not afraid of Stella, she did not want to be caught in the middle between her and Robert.

"Sophia, stop right there!" Stella blocked Sophia's way. "You say one thing in front of people and another behind their backs. I know you forced my son to forbid me from going to the villa. Do you dare to admit it?"
